Zara - chavvy or classy

Keep changing my mind and DH loves it.

And I'm kind of keen on 'Faith' as a middle name. But Zara Faith keeps making me think Clothes Shop - Shoe Shop

What do you think?

that would be two not too.

kitya · 25/08/2011 10:40

Zara is so not chavvy!! honestly, you lot, you sound just abit snobby!! I know too Zaras one is Arabic which I assume is where it comes from (I could be wrong) and the other is Spanish (born way before the shop) I havent seen it around that much recently. I really like it. Sarah is much more popular. Is Sarah chavvy in your books then? because theres not much difference in it is there really?

muminthemiddle · 25/08/2011 10:32

I think Zara is a great name. Not chavvy. I would go with Zara Hope.

pranma · 24/08/2011 21:22

Zara Verity?[truth]
I like Zara

MaElsie · 24/08/2011 21:15

One of my favourite names ever. Almost went for Zara Naomi for our dh1. You might get away with Zara Faith if people don't think about it too deeply - worth thinking what your friends are like - do they shop a lot?!

WiiUnfit · 24/08/2011 10:27

I adore Zara, it is beautiful. :)

Jude89 · 23/08/2011 10:33

We have a Zara at school, but it's spelt Tzara, we've got another one coming up called Zarah (I think, there's a H in there somewhere)

proudfoot · 22/08/2011 07:12

Zara is lovely!

What about

Zara Catherine
Zara Beatrice

Also a bit royal I know, but they sound really good IMO!

magentastardust · 20/08/2011 09:53

We have a new little girl - Zara and our surname is the same as yours -we have had lots of compliments about the name. We went for Rose as middle name -hope is lovely with it.

YouDoTheMath · 17/08/2011 14:44

Definitely not chavvy.

Zara Mia (could sound a bit too like Cara Mia, which is what Gomez Addams nicknames Morticia... but don't let that put you off. :) )

Zara Maria

BeeBread · 17/08/2011 14:35

I do love Lara though. It avoids both associations and would work well with Faith.

BeeBread · 17/08/2011 14:34

My Dad asked me the other day whether Zara (the clothes shop) was owned by Zara Phillips.

Made me laugh.

redglow · 16/08/2011 22:34

Its a nice name and at lest it is a nice shop. Sounds better than primark,

oohlaalaa · 16/08/2011 14:37

classy.

BodyUnknown · 15/08/2011 12:17

Not Zara Elizabeth - the 'a' and 'E' do not run well together. And a bit too royal!

I am not convinced that Zara Hope leans on the classier side of the fence, although I do quite like it.

Zara Vivienne, someone else suggested that, I think it's utterly gorgeous and I like the ZV- initials too.
Zara Juliet is lovely aswell
Zara Simone
Zara Sophia

Sarah is lovely but does seem dated in comparison with Zara. With the right middle name Zara is both cool and classy and the more I write this post the more I wish I'd used it myself :)

Ephiny · 15/08/2011 11:49

Alternatively Sara Faith would have a similar sound but avoid the shop issue?

Ephiny · 15/08/2011 11:48

I like Zara a lot, wouldn't use myself as it's a bit too close to my own name, but otherwise it'd be on my list!

Didn't know there was a shop called Faith so wouldn't make that connection personally, but agree two clothes/shoe shops in one name sounds a bit odd!

Hope is lovely as a middle name, goes nicely with Zara too.

mayanna123 · 15/08/2011 10:55

Zara makes me think of the fashion store. Like calling a child Next or Liberty.

How about Sarah?

InstantAtom · 14/08/2011 22:33

Zara Hope is gorgeous.

Zara Elizabeth nice too although I wonder if you'd get "royal family" comments!

northernruth · 14/08/2011 22:33

Not necessarily chavvy but it is a little bit too aspirational for my tastes. Plus I agree on the clothes shop.

I love Faith tho - and Hope!

moobrain · 14/08/2011 22:31

But I think we're decided on either Zara Hope or Zara Elizabeth

Thanks for all the input :o

percy - 1 syllable in our surname. And don't think I'm outing myself by revealing that it is ...... Smith !!! :o

PercyFilth · 14/08/2011 20:13

How many syllables in the surname?

Rhubarbgarden · 14/08/2011 18:08

I like Zara, and I agree it's neutral in terms of obvious class connotations.

SaffronCake · 14/08/2011 15:10

Zara's neutral on the posh/chav front, but does remind people of the clothes shop. If you put Faith with it it's far too ShopaholicBubblehead. Which is sad, because otherwise it'd be a good choice.

Zara Hope?
Zara Liberty?
Zara Constance?
