As the title says really......

Already have a Phoebe (10), love the fact she's the only one at her school (it wasn't very popular round here back then).

3 weeks away from another girl and really really stuck on a name. Its just so hard and every name reminds me of someone else/I know one/etc etc!

Really like:

Amelie- Was our no.1 choice, but now know of another born last week
Poppy-fav to go with Phoebe but next doors dog
Georgia-sit next to her dad at work
Elsie/Elsa-DH not too keen
Summer-DH's pick, I'm not sure, is it a bit predictable (due in August etc)
Sadie-Is it cute for a baby or cute for a dog?

Argh!!!! Its just so difficult and I now I'm on mat. leave have developed an addiction to check baby names forums every hour!

Daphne?

Has a 'ph' to go with Phoebe

MrsOzz · 27/07/2011 08:02

I know sisters Phoebe and Martha x

passmeanotherpineapple · 27/07/2011 08:02

We did still plan to use Amelie, despite the 'other one' but everyone we now seems to know of baby Amelie & her parents so we've changed our minds.

Just shows how a tiny association can really put you off something!

If Amelie was your favourite, can I ask who had an Amelie last week? If it was your best friend then ok, don't use it. If it was some acquaintance mum from the school gates... I think you should still use the name.

Thanks for all your suggestions, its so much harder to name the second than the first. I really like nearly all the names suggested here too, but I'm an awkward git & I seem to have some connection to one in some way or another!!

Our surnames Brooks so pretty much goes with anything (other than Brooke which we both like...lol)

Am still loving Georgia but thinking also Georgie too. I think we probably will go with summer for the middle as DH's fav.

Here's my associations.....

Tabitha-Used to be my cat, but I do love Tabby
Eleanor/Elinor-Quite a lot of Ellies/Ellas in DD class, swim class, dance class etc so that ones out
Poppy-Nope neighbours dog
Ariane, Damaris, Alethea/Althea,Cora,Cassandra or Daphne- I'm not really keen on these
Chloe-Is out cos thats the other neighbours cat!
Imogen-Love Immy/Immie but know 4
Amelia-Is out as DD auntie, is Emelia
Lydia-Best friends DD
Claudia-Not a good name round here (missing person)
Eliza-Not sure
Emmeline-Like Emmy/Emmie
Evangeline-Sorry just nope
Harriet-I like but can't imagine having one
Clara-Reminds me of bewitched
Freya-Love, but DH not keen, really going to keep trying on this one
Martha-Love but my boss!
Eloisa and Aoife-I'm Louise so maybe too much & Aoife? Do you get a lot of problems with spellings from others? I find Phoebe hard enough!!
& finally Daisy is BF's dog

See what I mean??!!!
Am I just too bloody difficult & there really is no hope for me? I'm really panicking I won't have a name to send out on texts when she's born!!!

"DD was born at , weighing & erm she doesn't have a name cos her mum is rubbish!!!!

Love the name phoebe. It was on my shortlist for ds. Other names on my list which I think would go well are Clara and Annie.

Lonnie · 27/07/2011 00:37

From your list I would 100% use Summer.

My Phoebe (age 13) has Eloisa and Aoife as her sisters.

I wouldnt use poppy due to the dog..

Elsa imo is up and comming

I find Georgia very harsh to say..

Ameliais ok
I think sadie is lovely but do you want two names ending in eee sound?

Olivesandfeta · 26/07/2011 23:59

Daisy!

deste · 26/07/2011 23:53

I second Imogen.

Stars22 · 26/07/2011 21:34

I know 2 phoebes both have sisters. One has a sister called Martha, and the other one has two sisters Kelsey and Isla. Out of your list I like Georgia and Summer.

MynameisnotEarl · 26/07/2011 20:07

Chloe.

SkipToTheEnd · 26/07/2011 20:00

I like Esme but I gather it's getting popular now.

I also think Hannah goes well or Lucy.

hayleysd · 26/07/2011 19:51

Alice?

minipie · 26/07/2011 19:49

Georgia definitely goes best with Phoebe (can't explain why it just does!)

Elsa goes quite well

Poppy, Sadie, Elsie IMO don't really "go" - Phoebe is quite a grown up name whereas those are little-girly names.

Summer doesn't go either IMO - Phoebe is classic and Summer is quite hippy

Amelie is ok but makes me think of the film and I think might date quite badly.

so... has to be Georgia or Elsa

or you could of course just make up your own mind Grin

ThePrincessRoyalFiggyrolls · 26/07/2011 19:47

proudfoot did you read Jilly Cooper novels? Grin I love all of your above names - Phoebe and Imogen where up there for me if ds was a girl!

proudfoot · 26/07/2011 18:45

From your list I would definitely go for Elsa - absolutely brilliant name. Love it.

Other names that popped into my head to go with Phoebe are Imogen, Harriet, Clara, Freya.

pilates · 26/07/2011 17:02

Amelie is my favourite, how about:-

Lydia
Claudia
Eliza
Emmeline
Evangeline

Panzee · 26/07/2011 16:52

hocuspontas you beat me to it!

LetThereBeRock · 26/07/2011 16:48

I like Sadie and Georgia best, but Georgia works especially well with Phoebe imho. It's a beautiful name.

LucyLastik · 26/07/2011 16:33

I instantly thought Amelia when I saw the thread title, but then I'm rubbish at choosing baby names. My DC's have got names that I just loved, rather than fitting together or sounding good together IYSWIM

Cies · 26/07/2011 16:31

Imogen

Insomnia11 · 26/07/2011 16:24

Chloe would be great. When I was a teenager I loved the names Chloe and Phoebe.

Bandwithering · 26/07/2011 16:20

Ismene

Greenwing · 26/07/2011 16:11

Your DD Phoebe has a lovely name. Good luck with the next!

Amelie -very pretty but apparently getting quite popular.
Poppy -a dog's name for me too! Not ideal for a grown woman either imho.
Georgia - OK ( but to me is an American state names -she could be Carolina or Arizona!)
Elsie/Elsa- Quite pretty
Summer - a bit faddy/hippy?
Sadie - sorry, the sound just makes me think of 'sadism'!

Phoebe is a classical Greek name - how about another one like Ariane, Damaris, Alethea/Althea, Cora, Chloe, Cassandra or Daphne?

ThePrincessRoyalFiggyrolls · 26/07/2011 15:56

Don't know why but you say Phoebe I say Eleanor/Elinor.
