What should we call Phoebes' sister?

As the title says really......

Already have a Phoebe (10), love the fact she's the only one at her school (it wasn't very popular round here back then).

3 weeks away from another girl and really really stuck on a name. Its just so hard and every name reminds me of someone else/I know one/etc etc!

Really like:

Amelie- Was our no.1 choice, but now know of another born last week
Poppy-fav to go with Phoebe but next doors dog
Georgia-sit next to her dad at work
Elsie/Elsa-DH not too keen
Summer-DH's pick, I'm not sure, is it a bit predictable (due in August etc)
Sadie-Is it cute for a baby or cute for a dog?

Argh!!!! Its just so difficult and I now I'm on mat. leave have developed an addiction to check baby names forums every hour!

Of your names, Georgia or Sadie - but think it would actually be better if the name didn't also end in an 'ee' sound. So Georgia.

New suggestions: Martha, Xanthe, Ianthe, Linnet.

I'm a guide leader and we have two Phoebes atm. One has a sister called Emily, the other a sister called Harriet.
Hth

I know Phoebes with sisters named Ellen, Alice and Poppy.

How about Iris, Olive (as alternatives to Poppy)?
Or Ruth, Naomi, Keziah, Miriam, Hannah or Anna to continue with Biblical names? Celia, Rosalind, Violet or Beatrice as alternative Shakespearean names?

Felicity, Flora, Matilda, Edith, Harriet or Mary are some of the other names I think go well with Phoebe.

Only like Georgia and Elsa from your list. Really dislike Poppy. I love slightly hippy 1970s names but Summer is just a bit too much IMO.

Xanthe is fab!

Darcey Bussell the retired ballerina has daughters Phoebe and Zoe with dots(both names are ancient Greek origin so go well together). So when I think of Phoebe I always put it together with Zoe.

Imogen and Erin would be nice too.

From your list, I like Georgia and Summer the best - though not sure if Summer goes with Brooks - maybe too much to have two nature-y names together, since brook can mean river? What about Clio?

Astrophe · 28/07/2011 04:39

If you like Gorgia but worry it will be to common amongst her age mates, maybe Georgina or Georgiana?

emmanumber3 · 27/07/2011 22:22

Lol - I'm expecting a DD in August too & wanting to call her Poppy - however DH is being put off by it being our friends' dog's name Grin. Obviously a common problem!

I do like Summer aswell though - not so much Elsie or Elsa. Our other "top choice" at the moment is Mia (don't care if it's uber-popular, we still love it Smile).

glory / gloria
stella
erin
iris

hannah
delphine (fifi)

OohThatsMyTractor · 27/07/2011 22:18

If you like Amelie but aren't sure, then why not go for a variation on it such as Amelia, Emilia, Emily, Milly.

FWIW my sister and I are Phoebe and Emily and people have always commented how nice they sound together.

I would go for Emily/Emilia shorted to Em/Milly/Mimi/Milia/Emmy, think that sounds lovely and I am not biased at all, oh no Grin

UrsulaBuffay · 27/07/2011 22:08

I have a Phoebe and if I had a DD2 I would consider:

Cordelia
Tabitha
Nancy
Sadie
Mabel (if not for damn DH)
Martha (as above)
Claudia
Xanthe
Thea
Charlotte

I did almost call her Imogen & love Beatrice but we call her Bee.

Haudyerwheesht · 27/07/2011 21:36

Georgia from your list but imogen is the best.

FullTimeStudentNurseAndMumOf3 · 27/07/2011 21:31

I have a Holly and plan to call dd2 Phoebe

muminthemiddle · 27/07/2011 21:17

I instantly thought of Imogen although I see you have already considered it.
From your list I would choose Georgia.

ilovedjasondonovan · 27/07/2011 16:18

I know A phoebe, little sister is chloe

patindahat · 27/07/2011 16:12

jacinda?

Lonnie · 27/07/2011 15:19

We get asked how to spell Aoife when people first hear it and also how to say it but it istn actualy to bad we dont find it is more than how to spell Phoebe.

(I love the silent o's) on our short lists where

Illona Iona Maeve Amelia (but I have gone off that) Sophia Niamh Seraphina and Alexa/Alexia (we didnt reuse the same names for each baby)

katz · 27/07/2011 08:21
