we are not now going to have a boy (2 DDs, which is fab), but we were going to call any son Aoghan (ay-gon) - Irish name meaning 'little fire'. You can spell it Aogan too. Loved it, sorry we can't use it

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Dh wanted Appeltina for dd1 Hmm - for his favourite rum.
Dd2 might have been Huey. Or Mattie. She wasn't either.

telsa · 24/07/2011 11:53

I wanted to call him
Caradoc
Bryn - but DH said it reminded him of Uncle Bryn
Idris
Thought Evan was too dull but wish we had done instead of Ieuan which we love but which everyone says as Loo-anne (it's an I not an L!) rather than Y-eye-an.
Caradoc was so lovely.

FairyArmadillo · 21/07/2011 23:36

And girl's unusual reject- Shiloh. Love the name. Didn't like what was then a clear Angelina Jolie connection.

FairyArmadillo · 21/07/2011 23:34

The more unusual of my rejects- Orion, Oberon, Jathniel, River

DS ended up with top 20 first and middle names. First name is quite common but I liked it.

rhetorician · 21/07/2011 22:46

norks great post! I think you and your DH fall into opposite ends on the naming spectrum - well done for agreeing on some name in the end (presumably)

OP posts:
NorksAreMessy · 21/07/2011 22:44

Bye bye Elisabeth and Monica (you were a boy, after all)
Bye Bye Hugo and William (you were a girl)
bye Bye Brian and Martin ( no WAY DH!!!! )
Bye Bye Joni and Maya (vetoed by DH)

Funny to wonder what those DC would have been like if they had had those names

rhetorician · 21/07/2011 22:44

hmm, some of these are making me wobbly about DD2's name choice...Iris I like a lot, and Tess (I already know one of those though). I'm ignoring the boys' names, not because I don't like a lot of them, but I have no use for them, sadly...

OP posts:

rhetorician · 21/07/2011 22:04

Caoimhe is a lovely name - won't go with surname, also like Ariadne. Your rejects are so nice Adair I'm curious as to what you actually picked!

OP posts:
Adair · 21/07/2011 22:00

Dexter - dd's 'if she'd been a boy' name
Ariadne - ds1's 'girl' name
Capella - ds2's 'girl' name
A/Eithne (also means 'little fire' i believe)
Caoimhe - we have no Irish connection at all

We toyed with Anakin - but he becomes Darth Vader..!

I love Evander - but couldn't convince dh.
