we are not now going to have a boy (2 DDs, which is fab), but we were going to call any son Aoghan (ay-gon) - Irish name meaning 'little fire'. You can spell it Aogan too. Loved it, sorry we can't use it

cece · 26/07/2011 22:49

DD would have been Sam
DS1 would have been Alethea
DS2 would have been Verity

Canella · 26/07/2011 22:46

I also loved Chiara - once knew a fabulous woman with that name but it didnt go with our weird surname.

Also loved Vanessa but this was 10 years ago and Vanessa Feltz was very famous - it would have been wrong.

Really wondered if we'd lived abroad like we do now, when the dc were born if we'd have called them different names. Well i know i def would have done with ds2 - think he'd have been Michael, Johannes or Nico.

GetOutMyPub · 26/07/2011 22:36

I found my little note book the other day, with some of our baby name ideas

Dh vetoed -
Martha
Elsie
Dolcie
Josie
Lilian

I vetoed =
Jennifer
Nicola
Nicole
Angela

I had a real thing for Granny names when pregnant, and I am certain Dh suggestions were all old flames. Although I quite like Jennifer now (but would never tell DH that)

In the end we were lucky to have two healthy & gorgous boys and gave them very ordinary, traditional names)

LaTristesse · 26/07/2011 12:09

Oh and I met a small Emaus (Em-ay-us) in the playground the other day - strangely like it!

LaTristesse · 26/07/2011 12:02

DS's middle name is Lorien. Wish I'd saved it now as pg with #2, and if it's a boy we'll be stuck!

He would have been Ariane if a girl, still love it, still might use it this time...

FebreezeYourJeans · 25/07/2011 22:35

For me there will now never be an;

Audrey, Eliza, Miranda or Tansy

Seth, Reuben or Gabe

SenSationsMad · 25/07/2011 22:21

disclaimer - I wasn't expecting at 14, I was just, you know, thinking up names Blush

SenSationsMad · 25/07/2011 22:16

When I was 14, I decided I'd call my twin girls Mafon and Mefus ( Welsh for Raspberry and Strawberry)

I'm happy to announce that I did not get twin girls.

I also thought about naming a boy Corwynt. ( Hurricane/tornado) That didn't happen either I'm happy to say!

My older self was much more traditional and named my DS after a Welsh prince and DD has a beautiful timeless Welsh name.

spiderlight · 25/07/2011 22:02

Ooooh thereis! I waaannntt onnnne! DP wasn't keen, but I've banged on about it so often he actually quite likes it now Grin

Now, all we need is better jobs, more money, a bigger house... Oh yes, and a DS Grin

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 24/07/2011 17:46

IvyAndGold

You should! We have one (actually he's and Angus Edward Patrick) - he's very cute Grin

IvyAndGold · 24/07/2011 17:17

I am determined that I will have a little baby Angus one day! Grin

DP is not a fan of more uncommon names :( DD is Isla, in the top five in Scotland I think, though saying that I have never met another Isla.

Other names I like are
Girls - Paloma, Ingrid, Esme, Ishbel, Rosa, Audrey
Boys - Angus, Patrick, Caleb, Aidan, Gabriel, Dexter

WiiUnfit · 24/07/2011 16:18

Keira & Luca - my 'picked' names that DP veto'd completely when expecting DS.

Other names he veto'd include:
Esme
Isabella
Benjamin
& tons of others!

He wanted to name DS if he had been a DD, Anna, which I veto'd due to negative connotations with Anna's I've known!

PaperBank · 24/07/2011 14:40

Aster, Coralie, Zarina, Rowena, Delilah

Jerome, Eric, Tristan, Ezekiel, Aidan

mrsotter · 24/07/2011 13:29

dd2 should have been Florence but I thought it may be too flouncy for our working class area and schools so she is now Tessa, She is 8 months and I look at sometimes and think she should have been Florence

yousankmybattleship · 24/07/2011 13:22

Some lovely names here. The two that got away for me were Cora and Merle. I love them both but wasn't quite brave enough!

SummerLeaps · 24/07/2011 13:12

Love Rifka

Love Reuven.

DS was going to be Horatio. If we had a DD i really wanted either Artemis or Hera or Isis.

[ex classics scholar- can you tell?]

ShowOfHands · 24/07/2011 12:45

Aphra
Mirabel
Josephine
Inigo
Amos
Abraham

befuzzled · 24/07/2011 12:35

Elodie or Milene were my girls names, never to be used.

I also really like Anakin aesthetically for a boy but I think the sw overtones are still too strong, I feared people would think I was a sw geek.

droves · 24/07/2011 12:11

blaze

axel < for ds2 , ex-dh go petition going at our old video shop and go th cstomersto sign it , so i was bulied by masses via ex-dh , used somethin popular at the time instead < hate it now btw> >

strandednomore · 24/07/2011 12:01
