Our baby was born on tuesday morning.

We don't know what to call her. For a while she was Sofia, but wondering about Florence and Cordelia.

The only thing we are sure about is Grace for a middle name.

Any thoughts? Should we just stick to Sofia.

It turns out naming a baby is tough.

Beautiful and unusual! Well done.

BibiBelle · 22/07/2011 19:17

LOVELY!!

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 22/07/2011 18:55

Lovely choice.

Congratulations.

Tobelle · 22/07/2011 11:47

Thank you all for your suggestions and best wishes. After careful consideration we have decided to go with Cordelia Grace.

It was great to have a sounding board from everyone on here.

I'm off to perfect my nappy changing technique. Thanks again.

Cordelia is wonderful and makes lovely pet names too.

Bandwithering · 21/07/2011 23:41

i love Cordelia. it can be Cory, Cora, Delia, Lia.

I prefer just Sophie to Sophia.

BibiBelle · 21/07/2011 23:04

DD3 is Cordelia and it's lovely Smile

minipie · 21/07/2011 22:54

Sofia or Sophia would definitely be my choice.

BabesandJugs · 21/07/2011 22:32

Firstly - Congratulations Smile

Sofia Grace is absolutley lovely! I definately think you should go with it. Cordelia and Florence are pretty too, but imo Sofia Grace flows beautifully!

StarryEyedMama · 21/07/2011 22:30

Sofia Grace is a lovely name!

SkelleyBones · 21/07/2011 22:30

I love Clementine Grace or Delilah Grace for something a bit different.

superjobee · 21/07/2011 22:29

cordelia is gorgeous cordie for short its so pretty but usable girly but not overly so for a grown up. sofia and florence are just ick in my opinion sorry! good luck naming her tho and congratulations!

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 21/07/2011 22:28

Cordelia gets my vote, too. It's beautiful and underused.

razzlebathbone · 21/07/2011 22:25

Cordelia is lovely. I love Florence but it is very popular. Sofia is ok.

PaperBank · 21/07/2011 22:21

Sofia Grace - lovely
Florence Grace - I like Florence but the two "ce" endings are a bit awkward together.
Cordelia Grace - I don't like Cordelia at all, sorry.

Ephiny · 21/07/2011 21:22

I think Cordelia Grace sounds perfect, the names just seem to go together so well. Whereas Florence Grace doesn't flow as well (nor does Sofia Grace for some reason). Not that I'd worry too much about that, as presumably you won't often use the full name anyway!

Personally not keen on Florence, just sounds a bit old fashioned and frilly/fussy to me. I think Cordelia is my favourite, though Sofia/Sophia is nice too and a very classic and elegant name.

Hulababy · 21/07/2011 21:13

Sofia and Florence are my favourites. Florence (Florrie as nn) would be my top choice.

Tobelle · 21/07/2011 21:12

thanks for your ideas. It's a tricky business. It is annoying that the names we like are the popular ones. I suppose that's what makes them popular.

I think we'll keep Grace as a middle name, because it is so popular.

We only had Florence and Sofia on the shortlist at birth but brought Cordelia into it because of our indecision. We hadn't considered it at all during pregnancy but stumbled on it during an internet trawl today. (so romantic)

Despite that I think we might be leaning that way.

Any more thoughts gratefully received.

OP agree with posters who say go with your gut, don't be swayed by random internet people telling you something is getting overused or they don't like it, she is your daughter not theirs- unless you call her XYZ123 then someone's going to also have her name...

MelinaM · 21/07/2011 20:23

Love CordeliaSmile ...Cordelia grace

Sofia and Florence are both lovely names, but they are very popular at the mo.

weepootle · 21/07/2011 20:22

Sofia is lovely and there aren't too many of them. I wouldn't use Grace as a first name as it's so overused (plus I don't like it). Florence is gorgeous too.

CharlieBoo · 21/07/2011 20:19

Grace is lovely as a first name, I think I prefer it to Sophia, which seems a very 'in' name at the moment. Prefer that spelling to Sophia though I think. Florence is beautiful, but getting popular too. Our friends just had a baby Florence and know of a few Sophia's.

Iggly · 21/07/2011 20:10

What about Grace as a first name?
