Woody, Jonty, Hector - boys name help..

This is my first mumsnet post but I seem to spend most of my time hunting through the names list. Most of the names I like seem to be universally greeted with gasps so whilst I am not asking for them to be liked I wonder if people can offer any names I might not have considered (having read 7 books...) or nicknames/abbreviations I might not have considered for my second child.
I like traditional names but most of our friends children are called Oliver, Charlie, William etc and I don't want something too popular, but I also don't want to go down the "trendy" route and be stuck with a name that becomes very 2011 etc..

Names I like with some concerns:
Edward (but called Woody)
Wilbur/Wilby
Jonty (would it be shortened to Jon which I hate)
Monty
Hector
Rafferty (bit trendy)?
Toby
Boris (we are both blond(e), husband feels we may give birth to Bo-Jo...
Flint (bit odd)?
I really like the name of our first child and don't want to feel that I pick an "ok" name for our second that I end up hating. Thanks...

Tonier or phineas are a couple more suggestions although I'm digging wilbur-just love it. We know a jonte and he's never known as Jon. Normally jont. Boys names are so hard x

Lots more to think about thank you! The last few threads I either don't like the shortened version of the names (Like Victor, don't like Vic etc) or again I know children with those names that either we can't use as they are friends or I don't like the child so it has rather put me off.
Am off to look up some of the names in my pile of books though so thank you for all suggestions..
I also had a rummage through some other posts and quite like Atticus which someone had posted although I do wonder if it might rise in popularity with the Beckhams choosing Harper. I just can't do celebrity names (although I know I can't do anything about it if God forbid the Rooneys end up on here pinching my names)!!

toby is another word for willy where im from dunno if its nationwide but toby boab and willy are all penis names along with dick of coarse..

I like Hector the best, then Wilbur and Flint.

And Mortimer instead of Monty.

Hector - 's house (to all mums born in 70's)
Rafferty (bit trendy)? No
Toby - OK (but make sure no dodgy ears in dna or jug jokes appear)

Of the others I like Barney, Michael, Joel, Basil, Sebastian, Jude, also Dominic Japheth, Rupert & Noah

I like Wilf but again we know one..All our friends seem to have had boys..I wouldnt have had this problem with a girl!
I like Baxter too. I hadn't associated it with soup. Just the bear at my son's nursery!! and Ptolemy but the child is going to have a surname that no-one can spell and pronounce so I don't feel I can do that with the first name as well.
I also like Sebastian but not Seb and I just know people will shorten it and I like Basil but shudder at the thought of him being known as Baz...
