This chosing the name lark is so difficult. We have just found a name that we both like and agree on an DH goes and discusses it with PIL (not saying the this is the one but one of the list) and they hate it!!

So I've been sent on a mission to find out the MN opinion. What do you think of this one, please?

Honestly, DD2 is in danger of being called the same name as DD1, as we just cannot make our silly minds up...

Thanks

the more I think about it the more I like it on reflection, especially if you plan Freddie (I also like boys names for girls like Charlie etc.)

the more I think about the PIL objecting the more I like it still Grin

I have heard a lot worse on here and think I quite like it. I like Freddie for a girl as do I like Erika.

Personally I don't see why it is your PIL's business, it's your decision and not theirs, they already got to name their child(ren).

Funny about the assumptions, no German connection in fact. Am Polish born and bred.

Thank you all for taking the time to comment. I think we are pretty much set on the name. Just exhausted looking TBH. And there's a nice story to tell LO in the future: 'mama had a silly dream that dad and her agreed on this one and once she told dad he said yes (which was scary at first, as mama wasn't even sure if it was a real name...)' :)

Can you tell that name searching is driving me bonkers?

Frederica doesn't look as German, although I also think it doesn't look as nice.

sonniebonnie · 11/07/2011 14:31

I like it. And know a lovely 6 year old Frederika. Lovely and not overused.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 11/07/2011 14:25

It's ok, I would also assume German-ness somewhere along the line. I love Freddie for a girl though, but I love boys' names on girls (Ronnie, Stevie etc)

ShoutyHamster · 11/07/2011 14:22

Would assume you were German. Not a bad name but pretty unusual - she'd be Freddie for sure!

Tell your DH to STOP with the discussions, especially with the PIL!! Because I can guarantee you that if this had been THE one, you would have wanted to rip him a new one Grin

Not my Brew but I know a very cute little one with a sister Alexandra and they are 'Alex and Freddie'.

PaperBank · 11/07/2011 13:42

It's OK but not one of my favourites.

I'd assume you had German connections.

COCKadoodledoo, I really did, with the first one. And DD1 has a girly name and I am honestly not bothered at all now about not having a boy. Just got a thing about boys' names for girls...

Aha, SleepyFergus, exactly what I am thinking, I love Freddie. Love boys' names for girls.

To me it sounds very much like 'We wanted a boy'. Sorry.

SleepyFergus · 11/07/2011 13:10

I like it, unusual and it might get shortened to Freddie which I think is quite cute.

Stuff the in laws, if you like it go for it!

deemented · 11/07/2011 13:09

Not very keen, sorry.

However, i do love Erica, which is a shortened version.

birdofthenorth · 11/07/2011 13:09

I'm sorry, not my cup of tea. Can imagine a poor girl getting called Fred or Eureka throughout school! Sorry Smile
