It would appear that this is the chosen name for their longer for darling daughter!!!!! Shock

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
melika · 13/07/2011 12:59

Fanny Fru-fru would have been a better choice!

NattersAndMutters · 13/07/2011 10:33

Harper Seven is a cartoon character? You're joking?

jmw62 · 13/07/2011 10:19

I wish parents would think about the poor child who has to actually carry these wierd names around with them. If you want to call your baby after a cartoon character (Harper Seven is the Beckham boys favourite I hear) then get a dog. My son said ' it is like you calling me Sponge Bob Mummy!' Sponge Bob - excellent name for a Jack Russell Terrier but not for a child! You have to laugh.

midlandsmumof4 · 13/07/2011 00:46

Bit disappointed really but having seen some of the names on other threads, she seems to have got away quite lightly.......[hgrin].

Nightstar · 12/07/2011 21:18

Isnt Harper what you use to clean the loo?

Oh hang on thats Harpic. Still........

IAmTheCookieMonster · 12/07/2011 20:49

it sounds like half past seven!

strawberrylion · 12/07/2011 20:16

I've always really liked Harper, so yes it is a shame will probably become massively popular, but am quite surprised that they didn't go with something more unique (Dave Grohl, Tiffani Thiesson, Myleene Klass, Neil Patrick Harris, Lisa Marie Presley)

Everyone's making a big deal about Seven and half past seven but it's not hyphenated, I certainly never use my middle name - at least they didn't do as Erykah Badu did and actually call the child Seven!!

PaulaYatesbiggestfan · 12/07/2011 20:08

Agree with Paula - of course Wink
My dc6 has a very odd (although old english and oft used in Shakespeare) name. Meets with grunts and silences most of the time...HE -however- adores his name and proudly announces it- will not be called by any pet names - 'NO I am (odd unfashionable name!)'

LaCiccolina · 12/07/2011 19:54

Did anyone see Matthew Wright today? Anne Diamond was on. She suggested that the baby name was actually supposed to be a note of the time of conception or birth (half past seven) and that some hapless aide released it to the press by mistake as the name...

Oh how I wish that were really true....! :0)

Fillybuster · 12/07/2011 19:41

Paula Yates also pointed out that once you have called your first child something silly (like Fifi Trixibelle) you can't really go with mainstream names for the next one....:)

TheLaminator · 12/07/2011 19:40

all i can say is - glad our 4month old was a boy, we really liked the name :)
All of our future chickens will have the girls names we didnt get to use.

madmn52 · 12/07/2011 15:45

I think I remember once watching an interview with the late Paula Yates - possibly with Parky where she was asked about her childrens unusual names and it was gently suggested I think that they probably deep down wished they had more ordinary names. She actually said that 'No' they all actually adored having unusual names - absolutely loved them

MeMum2011 · 12/07/2011 15:23

sounds like a nasa space mission

Lozario · 12/07/2011 14:49

dawbs74 how old is Harper? People will realise that she was named before the Beckham kid, hopefully. I love the name Harper, mainly due to Harper Lee. Seven just odd and like someone else said, reminds me of that spooky film.

Severn I'm slightly more on board with, like the river. Not sure why, think I'm influenced by sleep-deprivation there...

dawbs74 · 12/07/2011 13:49

Also gutted as my dd has name Harper chosen for it being unusual!! Seriously thinking of changing her name but dh thinks i am being ridiculous!

DragonAlley · 12/07/2011 13:38

Harper is not from a character on WoWPlace, it happens to be a character's name. They didn't invent it.

DragonAlley · 12/07/2011 13:36

I would say they've given their children names which have personal meaning to them. probably better than picking something from a list of names just because you like the sound of it.

snice · 12/07/2011 13:01

The name Harper is from a character in The Wizards of Waverley Place isn't it?

reallyupthejunction · 12/07/2011 12:42

They started naming their children after WHERE they were conceived (Brooklyn) then WHEN they were conceived (shame it was after seven, Harper Eight offers faux posh mint merchandising options) - next it'll be WHY they were conceived (expect the next one to be called Hello Covershoot Beckham).....

LisaHeidi · 12/07/2011 12:41

Harper Seven is probably no more odd than any other celb baby name! I wonder if the 'Seven' reference is 'Seven-of-Nine' the Borg in Star Trek:Voyager???

BerryLellow · 12/07/2011 12:22

I like Harper. Seven is a bit interesting, but agree - it's what middle names are good for.

They weren't going to escape criticism whatever they chose really.

DragonAlley · 12/07/2011 12:19

Personally, I think the majority of people bitching about the choice of name would do so whatever she had been called.

Yes, I think Seven is ridiculous but that's what middle names are good for.

Quenelle · 12/07/2011 12:16

Ooh, I like Nelle.

YellowingWallpaper · 12/07/2011 12:06

Wota, the first name is Nelle.

Nelle Harper Lee.

wotabouttheworkers · 12/07/2011 11:54

To Kill a Mocking Bird was written by Harper Lee - have never heard anyone criticise her name. Great book. Don't know the inspiration for the Beckham choice but they could have done so, so much worse.
