I am gutted! Am 40+3 and our chosen name for our daughter was Harper. Now we're going back to the drawing board.

At least I didn't have the baby last week and call her Harper I suppose.

I've just seen this comment posted by a guy on DailyMail Online,

"Well its gonna be easy for her when she is older and a guy in a bar asks for her name and number...."

I like the name Harper, although I doubt it has anything to do with To Kill A Mocking Bird, more likely to be from "Wizards of Waverley Place" on Disney Channel... can you tell I watch too much kids TV with my little darlings? Grin

There is a girl called Harper in that programme, one of the main characters. Wink

duckdodgers · 11/07/2011 09:26

harpie Grin

AttilaTheMeerkat · 11/07/2011 09:25

Sounds like a cleaning product.

Seven as her middle name is particularly awful.

effingwotnots · 11/07/2011 09:21

Love the name Harper. Can't bloody use it now though can I!! Envy

johnworf · 11/07/2011 09:21

...and Harpie for short? snort

johnworf · 11/07/2011 09:20

Awful name but rich enough parents to get away with it.

bevrichy · 11/07/2011 09:19

Harper's ok not sure about seven though!! congratulations to the becks

thehairybabysmum · 11/07/2011 09:19

My friend has a little girl called Harper, it's a lovely name and she is so adorable so now the name is even more lovely IYSWIM.

'Seven' though, thats just bonkers. Mind you it does open up a whole new realm of baby names...i lived at no 40 when ds1 was born and moved to a no. 13 before DS2...looks like i missed a trick there!!

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 11/07/2011 09:15

Seven was his shirt number at Man Utd and for England.

sonniebonnie · 11/07/2011 09:12

Harper sounds very masculine. I don't like it for a girl. Also doesn't sound nice in other languages (e.g. French, German, Spanish)

Valentina or Lana on the other hand are gorgeous feminine names that sound lovely in most languages.

lilaloves · 11/07/2011 09:03

I was told Valentina or Lana were on the list but I think Harper is better choice.
It's quite unisex which I was surprised about, thought she would go for something super girly. At least her name will allow her to find her own personality/style.
Her dad is a top sportsman so she may take after him and be a tomboy.

MotherPanda · 11/07/2011 08:59

I would have thought they would have picked a more girly girl name
toomrstimlovejoy.

Also thought about seven of nine... didn't realise seven was actually a name.

MugglesandLuna · 11/07/2011 08:57

Maybe they are massive fans of 'My Family'

mrstimlovejoy · 11/07/2011 08:56

wouldn't say it was a pretty name infact sounds more like a boys name.thought they would choose something more feminine.

thekidsmom · 11/07/2011 08:47

I really liked it when I heard 'Harper' - didnt understand Seven until reading this thread!

I think its an excellent choice - reflects her American 'heritage' in choosing a name no-one in this country would think of - didnt put the Beckhams down as big on literature but as 'To Kill a Mockingbird' is a favourite in this house, I approve!

duckdodgers · 11/07/2011 08:44

I dont like Harper (sorry momino), I thought they would have went for something a lot more girly tbh. Harper Seven sounds like a spaceship to me.

DurhamDurham · 11/07/2011 08:16

Harper is ok, prob better for a boy. Scout would have been a more fitting tribute to 'To Kill a Mockingbird ' for a girl.

Hate Seven, it just reminds me of that Brad Pitt film, it's very creepy.

boxoftricks · 11/07/2011 08:14

half of peckham...

caramelwaffle · 11/07/2011 08:13

Harper - not so bad

But really... they have named her half past seven...

Zachary I first thought of too! Grin

DandyGilver · 11/07/2011 06:58

I like it. Not so sure about the "Seven" bit, but its just the middle name. Good luck to them all.
