.....our names are now officially sorted..........I think.

I did have a wobble earlier today due to an article being in a paper, but I think we're happy

Girl - Eidith Lily (Eidi for short)
Boy - Seth Lucas

I'm hoping that I should be safe from other children in the class having the same name........???

Are you canvassing for opinions on the names themselves, or just whether or not they are popular?

SwearyMary · 08/07/2011 20:04

Won't people call her Eyedith?

Edith is a lovely name.

iMemoo · 08/07/2011 20:02

Sorry but there are 2 Seth's at the toddler group I go to.

JulyOrAugustThatIsTheQuestion · 08/07/2011 20:02

It's an accepted one, it was in the books when I looked otherwise I wouldn't have thought about it I don't think.

If she chooses just to refer to herself as Eidi (which she probably will and I don't mind) then she'd probably end up spelling that all the time too.

i have had 30+ years of spelling my name too.

it's an accepted spelling of an incredibly popular name....

smileychicken · 08/07/2011 19:59

I love Seth Lucas and Edith Lily but I am afraid the spelling of Eidith you have chosen doesn't appeal to me at all. Sorry! Do what you feel happiest with though.

JulyOrAugustThatIsTheQuestion · 08/07/2011 19:58

Ah well, she'll get used to having to spell it out :) I'm possibly one of the strange people that liked having a surname that I had to spell out, my married name is boring and never a problem to spell so she'll get off lightly with that bit at least.

Seth, popular, really?? :(

I think both are meant to be around about the 125th on popularity lists.....so not way out there but not 'common' either.

Is Eidith an accepted spelling or a made up one?

TheOriginalFAB · 08/07/2011 19:55

If you are going to call her Edith but spell it Eidith she will spend her whole life spelling her name. I had 20 + years of having to spell my name and it is pants.

catsareevil · 08/07/2011 19:55

People might struggle with the non-standard spelling of Edith. Seth is reasonably popular, but you will probably be OK from a point of view of there not being any others in the class.

JulyOrAugustThatIsTheQuestion · 08/07/2011 19:53

Thanks thisisyesterday - amazingly DH picked that name..............by opening the name book and it was the first one he saw and read out. Unbelivable considering I'd gone through about 3 books and had no ideas lol.

Because of the spelling? Its exactly the same as Edith, just think it looks much nicer written down with the 'i' as there's also an 'i' in our surname - also prefer Eidi rather than Edi and it will mostly be Eidi that we use.

moondog · 08/07/2011 19:48

Eidith?
Sounds like a Brummie trying to say Edith.
