I love it and so does dh.

What do you think? Would it go with a 'posh' double barrelled surname....

Georgi REALLY? I love that! That's excellent Grin

Georgimama · 07/07/2011 21:38

Your son will get eaten by the monster at the end of the garden. Don't do it.

Plus the whole Nursie thing (revenge by Richard Curtis on Bernard Jenkins for "stealing" his girlfriend).

bluebump · 07/07/2011 21:35

There is a Bernard at one of the baby groups I go to.

Trinaluce · 07/07/2011 21:34

tammy Shock Are you British? How can you not know who Blackadder is?!

I'm afraid Bernard does scream Blackadder for me too - not that that's any bad thing, I love Edmund but DH said no Sad Only wouldn't use Bernard myself as that's what we call my mum (Richard Curtis has a lot to answer for!)

peeriebear · 07/07/2011 21:30

When DD1's friends ask me my name I always say Bernard. In fact it is my comedy name of choice for any sort of situation. And it's Nursie's name.

bigbluebump · 07/07/2011 21:28

I know a little 4 year old Bernie and so have changed my associations with the name. Used to think of it as an old mans name but now associate with a gorgeous little boy.

People only think of old men or Blackadder because they don't know any young Bernards.

my dad's a bernard-most often known as Bern.

Jojay · 07/07/2011 20:24

Awful. Please don't do it.

Gilberte · 07/07/2011 20:23

Fantastic. I once had a hamster called Bernard, named after nursey from Blackadder of course

TheMonster · 07/07/2011 20:22

No.

Panzee · 07/07/2011 20:21

Round these parts, Bernard is used as an insult. "You Bernard..."

MelinaM · 07/07/2011 20:19

Lovely, love BernieSmile

LetThereBeRock · 07/07/2011 18:08

Bonkers.It's dreadful.

Catsu · 07/07/2011 17:12

Terrible. Almost as bad as Keith

tammytoby · 07/07/2011 17:09

I like Bernard - classic name that isn't already used by thousands others - whats not to like? Bernie is a cute nickname.

No idea what/who blackadder is though Hmm...

SloganLogan · 07/07/2011 16:35

Completely bonkers (you did ask!)

LineRunner · 07/07/2011 16:13

It's great as long as you don't pronounce it Be'-NARD.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 07/07/2011 16:02

Bloody horrible. It makes me think of beards for some reason.

newbroom · 07/07/2011 16:01

Oh no, it makes me think of Not Now Bernard! (DS's favourite book at the moment Grin)

doggus · 07/07/2011 15:59

Ha ha frazzle and Puppy - don't hold back!!

PuppyMonkey · 07/07/2011 15:48

It was Ernie and the fastest milk cart in the west...

I can confirm Bernard is, however, irrefutably awful and there is a very good reason no-one has used it where you live. Grin

frazzle26 · 07/07/2011 15:45

It's awful.

doggus · 07/07/2011 15:37

I like it because no one else down here has used it. Only trouble is I get 'Bernie the fastest milk cart in the west' in my head ( I know it's really Ernie).

tummytickler my dh has suggested Bernard during each pregnancy.

I like it, but not enough.
