What do we think of Quincy for a boy?? Is it too posh?

I love Quinn. Why not just use that?

If you insist on a full name, I'd also prefer Quentin. Quincy is too close to the fruit quince.

evamummy · 07/07/2011 11:35

Piglet, all the Quentins I know (including my nephew) are very masculine Smile. But I was referring to the name, not a specific person you may know. I find the incy ending of Quincy more feminine sounding than the tin of Quentin.

I have a huge oil painting of Quincy ME in my living room.

PigletJohn · 07/07/2011 10:48

Quentin Crisp wasn't very masculine.

evamummy · 07/07/2011 10:22

I quite like it but prefer Quentin - it sounds more masculin than Quincy.

Quinn is a cute nickname for either.

milliemoan · 07/07/2011 10:09

Thank you for your opinions. Still dithering on it! I do really like Quinn so may just go for that.

PS the lady is as British as they come.

A1980 · 07/07/2011 00:32

I like it. For what's it's worth I know a woman named Quincy and I think it's great for either sex.

Bandwithering · 06/07/2011 17:24

I don't like it, makes me think of Quincy ME. But I know it was a former American president, so probably doesn't sound so random over there. it's not as bad as Addison or Jackson.

Can you imagine it in the UK though!? Churchill, come inside now! or further back! Gladstone and Disraeli, get in the car now.

DELHI · 06/07/2011 14:36

Very American-sounding to me, and a bit 'off-the-telly' IYSWIM

seeker · 06/07/2011 13:13

The complete opposite of posh, I would say!

BellaBearisWideAwake · 06/07/2011 13:11

I taught a girl called Quincy

minipie · 06/07/2011 13:09

I quite like it actually. Think it works best with a one syllable surname.

Sophiesmummie · 06/07/2011 13:08

I much prefer Quentin (but I'm biased Smile) who sometimes gets called Quin or Quen.

MrsPlugThePlumber · 06/07/2011 12:55

I think of the fruit. Quince-y. Like Pear-y.

Quinn is lovely, though - or Finn, maybe?

poppydaisy · 06/07/2011 12:52

episodes of Quincy Confused - do you mean Quincy Jones?

JanMorrow · 06/07/2011 12:47

Quincy for me conjures up afternoons off work sick mindlessly watching episodes of Quincy! Or the fruit quince.

poppydaisy · 06/07/2011 11:51

Quincy Jones. I quite like it actually. But prefer Quentin too.

rachel234 · 06/07/2011 11:42

It's ok but I much prefer Quentin. And love the nickname Quinn.

SloganLogan · 06/07/2011 11:35

It sounds like an adjective meaning "like a quince".

MarioandLuigi · 06/07/2011 10:54

Makes me think of Quincy ME and Quincy Jones. Also the fruit Quince.

I like Quinn though.

ShirleyKnot · 06/07/2011 10:52

damn I thought this was a thread about Quincy ME.

So.

LetThereBeRock · 06/07/2011 10:50

It's awful.Fine as a middle name perhaps, but certainly not as a first name.Quinn is much nicer.

DandyDan · 06/07/2011 09:16

Quincey Morris is a total hero in the story of Dracula - he's the one who kills him. Great name and Quin is a good nickname.
