girls name forever ruined by project acronym at work.

it was Esme. Don't want comments on Esmeee/Esmay or how it's a rubbish name - i love it and now i'm heartbroken (sniff). But could never show my face at work again or look at her without thinking of stupid project.

other contenders not quite living up to it are Eden, Tamsin, Freya, Briony (which i love and dh doesn't), and poss Mathilda although a shorter name would prob work better with our surname.

any suggestions for an alternative for me to fall in love with?

hi, i picked my daughters name from it's meaning and my ethnic origin. So we picked Alanna (gaelic for love) - i am irish and Cerys (welsh for love) - dad is half welsh.

Sesame?!!!! Only if surname is Street, surely?! :)

telsa · 30/06/2011 08:52

Some Japanese names have a similar sound - say Honami, or Ume (plum) or Kimi, Izumi

Or what about Sesame. Or Salome.

Aoife - pronounced Eefah is a good, strong, girl's name.

I might just be saying that because the only Esme I know reminded me of the first Aoife I knew. They were both smart, gorgeous, independant, strong feminine girls.

EightiesChick · 29/06/2011 23:51

ARGH! typo - let's do this again

Once it's your daughter's name, I can CANNOT believe you will be looking at her and 'thinking of that stupid project'. If you love it, use it.

I think if you love Esme that much, just go with it ...and then hand in your notice Grin But seriously, you'll always be lusting after Esme if you don't Smile

Alice is lovely Smile

Love Matilda.

Also really like Martha and Florence.

itsastrawpoll · 29/06/2011 21:56

I would go for Esme if you love it. She will outlive the project Smile

If it helps at all, in my last job we used something called Key Lines of Enquiry and everyone talked about KLOEs all the time.

My work colleague still called his newborn DD Chloe though, no one laughed.

olddeuteronomy · 29/06/2011 21:55

Love Esme, it would have been on my list but my partner didn't. In similar vein

Iris
Esther
Eliza
Eira
Ivy

Though personally would still go with Esme - it is lovely and your daughter will not care about some work acronym which will be obsolete by the time she is old enough to realise

Goldberry · 29/06/2011 21:53

I like Flora and Rosamund.
