three names on the list...

We have 3 names on our short list. Please be gentle with me!
Edward (would be nn Teddy)
Albert (nn Bert/ie)
Alfred (nn Alfie)
As you can see we are a fan of shortening the names and our middle names work well with all of them. No problem with initials spelling something rude....
Thank you!

Albert - love it. Not so keen on Bertie though
Edward - I think Teddy is the best nn for Edward too
Alfred - too many Alfies where I live

mathanxiety · 24/06/2011 21:08

Albert/Bertie
Edward/Ted
Alfred -- dislike Alfie and Fred is more a nn for Frederick

elseIlltellyourfather · 24/06/2011 20:49

Alfie is over used IMO. Edward/Teddy nicest, though also popular. Bertie 2nd best.

squeak2392 · 24/06/2011 20:42

Edward.
I prefer Albert to Alfred, but Alfie to Bertie.

katherine2008 · 24/06/2011 19:38

I like Edmund, but it reminds me of Blackadder and I can only see Rowan Atkinson in doublet and hose! I am a fan of Teddy, but I know that it might sound too babyish quickly, although I suppose it did Roosevelt ok!

Edward is nice, but Teddy is too childish (and will get teased with Teddy Bear). Eddie is cute imo. Really dislike Albie/Alfie/Archie/Bertie type names - they are indeed overused and will soon sound dated imo.

boxofbugs · 24/06/2011 19:15

I love Teddy but prefer Edmund to Edward.

Bertie is very sweet but Albert reminds me of a Prince Albert (as in a piercing in a penis).

I think Alfie has been way over used in the last 15 years.

listentothemusic · 24/06/2011 19:12

Love love love Teddy.

Gilberte · 24/06/2011 19:11

I love Edward and prefer Teddy to Ed.
Albert is unusual and I like Bertie
Alfred- prefer the nn Freddie as Alfie a bit overused imo

Greenwing · 24/06/2011 18:28

LOVE Teddy so my vote goes for Edward - or how about Edmund which is far less common?

tummytickler · 24/06/2011 17:07

Albert.

cookielove · 24/06/2011 16:35

Don't like Edward, but do like Ed, or Teddy
Love Bertie, so cute
And Alfie also very nice

As you can see i prefer the nicknames over the full names

katherine2008 · 24/06/2011 16:33

thank you for advice - I think I prefer Edward and Albert, so we'll just have to wait to see what he looks like when he arrives!

Edward and Albert, both lovely names.

oohlaalaa · 24/06/2011 15:53

Love Edward. Not keen on the other two.

Awomancalledhorse · 24/06/2011 14:32

Edward. Although I have been put of it by Twilight. Stoopid books ruining everything!

Hedwig3 · 24/06/2011 14:29

Albert then Alfred in preference order.

I have a serious dislike of Edward and there are many under 2 where I live.

hatwoman · 24/06/2011 14:00

with Bertie a close second

hatwoman · 24/06/2011 14:00

Edward. It's more timeless than the other two - which are very of the current times
