I really like the name Henry for a boy, but a few people have pointed out the old 'Hooray Henry' connotations.
This never crossed my mind, so I was wondering hat the mn jury think.

DH wanted to name our baby Henry if it was a boy. After the vacuum cleaner. Fortunately we had a girl. I think Henry and Tabitha are both great names.

Anteater · 17/06/2011 01:57

chinless

topazmcgonagall · 17/06/2011 01:54

not "hooray" any more.

Tabitha is lovely. I don't like Agatha at all, sorry.

Bandwitch · 15/06/2011 20:04

No. There are more daring/try hard and 'posher' names.

pointydog · 15/06/2011 19:31

yes, I think along those lines.

I don't know any Henrys though.

5DollarShake · 15/06/2011 19:15

Um...

Taggie...? Hmm

Just no.

birdofthenorth · 15/06/2011 18:55

I'd consider Henry for a future DS. More worried about Horrid Henry (v popular with nephews!) than Hooray!

zozzle · 15/06/2011 16:45

A bit for me still yes, but I think that will lessen as it becomes more popular.

SloganLogan · 13/06/2011 23:26

Miriam is lovely :) Agatha is rather harsh.

PegPolkadot · 13/06/2011 20:55

I have got a horrid Henry Grin

nickstermum · 13/06/2011 20:48

Do like the name but yes associate with hooray henry (bit like tallyho tarquin, but not so much) and of course... Hoover :( But is on my shortlist :)

Quis · 13/06/2011 20:09

Thank you for all the replies. I am more convinced now with Henry!
I do like Agatha as a possible alternative to Tabitha but not keen on Taggie - getting too close to Tiggy!
I know a Ticky (Patricia) which is quite nice.
Also Miriam holds some appeal.
It's a good job I've still got 6 months to procrastinate!

I LOVE Henry, I think its beautiful and I like Tabitha

Moulesfrites · 13/06/2011 16:34

I have a Henry and when I told people the name I did get a few comments like "oh, how very distinguished!". It didn't bother me though, and I obviously think it is a great name. Interestingly, the couple of people who did comment were middle aged women, my peers didn't make any posh association. In think it's just classic and fairly neutral now in terms of class.

superjobeespecs · 13/06/2011 16:31

we considered henry for this bump if its a boy its a really nice name and not as popular as bloody harry and in no way hooray horrid or hooverish :) tabitha reminds me of that 70s programme with the lady with the wiggly nose you know the one but agathas not in any way better. both yuk.

pilates · 13/06/2011 16:25

Love Henry.

Don't like Tabitha at all.

SloganLogan · 13/06/2011 14:43

Henry is a lovely classic name :)

Really dislike Tabitha, sorry!

Bucharest · 13/06/2011 14:11

Absolutely no longer a hooray name.

(tbh, even when it was posh, to me it was more of a flat cap and whippet name. Now it's not posh at all)

TheBride · 13/06/2011 14:09

Makes me think Henry Cavill. Yum!

Tortoise · 13/06/2011 13:34

Makes me think of Horrid Henry, probably because DS2 used to love watching it and reading the books!
Love Tabitha.

wordsonapage · 13/06/2011 13:32

fleetingly

Actually I quite like Dyson Animal...

wordsonapage · 13/06/2011 13:31

Agree with Trills prefer Agatha To Tabitha
Henry I fleeting think of the hoover but its not an OMFG you've named your son Dyson Animal moment.

Karbea · 13/06/2011 13:25

I like Henry, it's a really nice name, and no it doesn't make me think of hoovers or hoorays.

Trills · 13/06/2011 13:08

Don't do Tabitha -> Tabby

Do Agatha -> Taggie

thursday · 13/06/2011 13:08

Tabitha is a fantastic name, very much on the increase though, in case that's important to you. i know 2 brand news Tabitha's and it was high on my list.

Henry is a great name, a classic that won't date and in now way makes me thing hooray :)
