What do you think? We want something unusual and have rarely heard this used.

which end, eh?

that, or a magician from the 70's; come see The Great Richenda!

Hulababy · 12/06/2011 21:42

I don't like it sorry.

I know a baby called Richelle. (ch pronouched as sh) My friends names (parents) are Richard and Michelle and the name is a blend of those. I have no idea it is a name in its own right ordinarily though.

TheRealMBJ · 12/06/2011 21:40

No!!!

What is with that lot? Serious narcissists if you as me, would stay well away

Oopsie · 12/06/2011 21:38

Yes, as Bandwitch says, Nigella has a brother named Dominic. And guess what his daughter's name is?

Domenica!!

Richenda sounds like a word invented by a 6yo boy for a pretend bottom disease. I actually know one and she is called Chick mostly but otherwise pronounced Rich-End-Er.

TheRealMBJ · 12/06/2011 21:00
Grin
Bandwitch · 12/06/2011 20:58

Dominic

(They should have called him Dominique)

TheRealMBJ · 12/06/2011 20:50

Hmm... My first thoughts were 'Urgh' but the more I say it to myself, the more I like it.

Does Nigella have a brother?

Bandwitch · 12/06/2011 20:47

Was Nigella lawson's sister called Richenda?? and the other one Thomasina?

Wow. they just stuck an a on to a boys name.

Bandwitch · 12/06/2011 20:46

eyooo.

I really like Richard for a boy (Richie/Rich) but Richenda and also Richarda or Rishenda) oh good grief no.

Nancy66 · 12/06/2011 19:54

It's horrible - sounds like some naff ladies hairdressers

ragged · 12/06/2011 17:29

Then I would spell it "Rishenda".
But I'm getting flamed for daring to suggest phonetic spelling on another thread, so probably best to ignore me! Blush

I had a cat called Thomasina and am quite fond of that one, actually :).

meditrina · 12/06/2011 17:28

I wouldn't go for it, but I think it's OK.

How about Richmal?

TheMonster · 12/06/2011 17:24

I don't like it at all.

FriggFRIGG · 12/06/2011 17:22

awful,IMHO.

LawrieMarlow · 12/06/2011 16:52

My first thought was Chalet School as well :)

That one was Richenda Fry named after Joseph Fry's daughter (he of chocolate and Quaker roots). Think she was alive during the 1800s.

Oopsie · 12/06/2011 16:46

Tia pronounced Rishenda, said all in one breath.

OP posts:
iskra · 12/06/2011 16:41

is it pronounced like it's spelt? Sounds like "which enda?" to me.

Oopsie · 12/06/2011 16:38

Don't apologise reikizen. I appreciate honesty and would much rather discover the truth now than after we've got the birth certificate.

SloganLogan · 12/06/2011 16:35

Some of the other Ric names for a girl are more feminine IMO. Richella, Richele, Richenza, Richina?

reikizen · 12/06/2011 16:06

Richenda? Sounds like someone who wears very sensible shoes and has a bowl haircut to me! Or a german witch. sorry, but you will ask complete strangers their honest opinions!

nagynolonger · 12/06/2011 15:59

Richard is a nice name for a boy but IMO there is no way it coverts well into a girls name.

Northernlurker · 12/06/2011 15:57

Yup 'Richenda at the Chalet School' has her name shortened to Ricki....

Now I like Richenda but Ricki is awful!

pinkthechaffinch · 12/06/2011 15:54

Isn't there a 'Richenda does something or another at the Chalet School?'

Quite like it

Oopsie · 12/06/2011 15:49

I know what you mean MsTeak.

Funnily enough, Nigella's sister was called Thomasina and her other sister was Horatia.
