Have a thread re boys names but dont know what im having so would like opinion on girls original names too!
Delilah - is this becoming popular? also solomon and delilah sounds a bit samson and delilah
Penelope - dislike nn Penny, is this a problem?
Iola - am thinking this sounds a bit chavvy/made up but maybe overthinking
Nelly - would this attract elephant jokes? (nell sounds to boring)
DH wants Larissa but I dont like
any other suggestions to go with Solomon nn solly . not necessarily biblical!

Like Emmeline but daughters middle name Emma. Love Clementine but nn Clem is rude where I live! Starting to like Esther. Like Allegra but no obvious nn. Any thoughts on Nellwyn/Nellwin then I get to choose between fave nn's Nelly and Winnie!

Naomi goes really well.

ceeceeanne · 17/06/2011 20:40

thanks misshonkover. Love it too just trying to get over the Solomon and Delilah thing...and the fact the religious folk at the church toddlers may not approve!

I know one adult Penelope, but although she lives in the UK she's Cypriot.

No babies of either name. I prefer Delilah.

ceeceeanne · 16/06/2011 23:06

which is more popular, Delilah or Penelope in uk? Does anyone know any and where do you live?

ceeceeanne · 15/06/2011 18:01

thanks everyone, still liking delilah as many people wouldnt bother about the biblical reference but think it may be getting trendy? quite like eleanora but not different enough.

Eleanora would give you a choice of NNs -- Nora, Nell, Ellen, Elle, Ellie (last two very popular though)

Hedwig3 · 15/06/2011 11:56

Meant to add I know a Naomi nn Nelly.

Hedwig3 · 15/06/2011 11:55

LOVE Norah.

Solomon and Delilah sound fab but i do hear the Samson thing, still like it though.

ensure · 14/06/2011 20:38

Norah is nice. I think Penelope would inevitably get Penny.

ceeceeanne · 14/06/2011 19:07

sounds good as long as she doesnt change her mind through teenage years!

Astrophe · 14/06/2011 05:11

oh, I see many have had that idea before me! I agree though, you can avoid Penny by always introducing her as Nell.

Astrophe · 14/06/2011 05:09

From your original list OP, what about Penelope shortened to Nell/Nelly?

mathanxiety · 14/06/2011 04:12

Charis
Esperanza
Theodosia
Leonora...

topazmcgonagall · 11/06/2011 21:49

I like Delilah.
Or how about Hope? Or Susannah?

ceeceeanne · 11/06/2011 21:14

interesting but not feeling those last few. Stacey would be funny
