What do you think of net.com/baby-name-finder/boy/hugo Hugo as a boy's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

zozzle · 15/06/2011 16:46

Not keen on those - too MC/lposh for my tastes

nickstermum · 13/06/2011 21:04

Love milo and i live ooop north...!! No dogs called milo round here, all max/sasha/poppy i have to say. Dislike hugo and felix is too catty for me. Grin

happywheezer · 13/06/2011 19:48

By the way, there is a new martin Scorsese film out at Christmas called the invention of Hugo Cabret, look the book up on Amazon, it's very interesting and a new present for fathers day!

happywheezer · 13/06/2011 19:46

I have a new Hugo, he's 4 weeks old and my husband had the same thoughts about Hugo as your husband, but I loved the name and that's what he called.

I live in Bristol,so I'm not sure about him being teased. In a previous life I was a PS teacher and children just accept what other children are called in my experience.I want him to go to public school!

I've had lots of comments about his name in cards etc. My husband's family don't like the name which is hurtful, but then again I don't really care!!

As for your other names, they were on my list too! So my darling, you have fabulous taste!

missmiss · 13/06/2011 19:37

I like Hugo best. I'm not keen on Milo - no reason, just doesn't do much fir me. I do like Felix.

I have met many more Hugos than Milos and Felixes combined.

topazmcgonagall · 13/06/2011 19:16

None of them, sorry.

ShoonaBee · 13/06/2011 18:34

Milo still reminds me of the Tweenies (purple one).
Felix and Hugo both hugely popular at the independent school I work at.
Personal fave is Hugo.

ChristinaEliopolis · 13/06/2011 18:33

I have a Hugo and he is as beautiful as his name!

gnugirl · 13/06/2011 18:28

Wow, never posted before, I really didn't expect to get such a response. Thank you. Hugo is my favourite too!

Don't like any of them.

BamBam21 · 13/06/2011 11:46

Where I live (in sunny Fife) I'm afraid these names would all be deemed as "posh" and would be very teaseworthy. Shame really, as Hugo is a good, old-fashioned, solid Germanic name. It's sad but true that these things have to be taken into account really.

Blu · 13/06/2011 11:45

DS is at a s London community primary with a very mixed demography, names of all types commonly ridiculed on MN (middle class 'pretentious' / made-up spellings 'chav' / Nigerian names which use good qualities as a name / names from a variety of cultures....many of which appear within ignorant posts asking 'what is the most ridiculous name at your child's school' etc ) and NO teasing takes place amongst children at all.

MN-ers seem to spend time thinking up ways to make a child's name risible.

mopsyflopsy · 13/06/2011 11:36

I'm surprised so many of you find these names 'teaseworthy'. Don't most kids just accept names for what they are, names of their mates. I struggle to find anything teasable about them, honestly... Or is it just that they're less commonly used and are not Jack, Tom, Charlie or other top 10 names?

Blu · 13/06/2011 11:35

I really like Milo and Felix

I would have to agree with colditz too. I discounted names I love because they might not fit in at the local comp.

emmyloo2 · 13/06/2011 07:55

Love them all and all were on my list. Decided Milo was a bit to "out there" plus in Australia it is the name of a chocolate drink. Hugo and Felix are both gorgeous.

Concordia · 12/06/2011 23:26

have to say i agree with colditz, fine if you are going to use private education only.

shmoz · 12/06/2011 23:19

Hugo - reminds me of the villain in Batfink (Hugo A-Go-Go)
Felix - ''Cats like Felix, like Felix''
Milo - tis also a cat's name, no?

mottledcat · 12/06/2011 23:09

I have two DSs with two of those names, one grown up, one 15 and have had no bullying/problems and we don't live in Fulham.....:)

SloganLogan · 12/06/2011 21:25

There are worse things to be named after than a chocolate drink :)

Bonsoir · 12/06/2011 21:20

All are lovely. Hugo is very French and Felix very German.

cece · 12/06/2011 21:14

Hugo - excellent
Milo - hot chocolate drink downunder
Felix - cat name

jenniferturkington · 12/06/2011 21:12

I love Hugo, and like Milo & Felix. All three are resonably popular where I live, I already know at least 2 of each and my eldest isn't yet at school. I'm in Brighton btw.
