I'm due to be in on Friday to have DC2 and we are really struggling with names. I need to come up with a first and a second name from this lot. Any opinions, please? We're trying for something not completely out there but not overly common, either.

Arabella
Cecilia
Elizabeth
Felicity
Lara
Phoebe
Sophia
Sorrell
Thea
Verity

Arabella - too public school for my tastes
Cecilia - as above
Elizabeth - love, classic
Felicity - public school again
Lara - like alot
Phoebe - like alot but quite popular atm
Sophia - as above
Sorrell - growing on me
Thea - ok
Verity - public school again

Sorry - nothing against public schools, but those type of names are just not for me!

Arabella - like
Cecilia - like
Elizabeth - quite like
Felicity - like
Lara - like as short for Larissa
Phoebe - like
Sophia - like
Sorrell - too much like sorry
Thea - don't like
Verity - OK

Thanks all...Still waiting sigh.

I am slightly leaning towards Sorrell at the moment (maybe as a middle). We live in the West Indies and sorrell is very popular here. Sorrell flowers are lovely.

Sorrell is beautiful.

emmanumber3 · 07/06/2011 11:53

Good luck! Hopefully by now you're in hospital happily recovering from the birth Grin.

My pick would be Sorrell Elizabeth FWIW.

CharlieBoo · 07/06/2011 11:43

I love Elizabeth too... So many lovely nicknames...

Almost every baby girl I know born recently is a Sophia... It's just predictable and safe... Good luck

sunshinebehindeverycloud · 07/06/2011 11:35

Lara Sophia would be my favourite

proudfoot · 06/06/2011 23:05

Good luck Tolalola! I absolutely love the name Lara so I would go for that but you have plenty of good choices on the list. Sophia, Thea or Elizabeth would probably be my 2nd pick.

minipie · 06/06/2011 19:42

My favourites from your list:

Cecily (not Cecilia)
Elizabeth
Sorrell (but as a middle name)

All your others are also quite nice, except Arabella which is way too princessy for me, and Thea which is cute but sounds like a lisp.

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 06/06/2011 19:38

Oh and good luck! :)

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 06/06/2011 19:37

Really like:

Cecily (but not Cecilia because of that silly song)
Elizabeth
Felicity
Verity

Don't like Lara, Sorrell or Phoebe.

My favourite combo is Cecily Elizabeth, I think.

Tolalola · 06/06/2011 18:52

Gah thanks Alfie, but there was a bit of a cock up and I'm still waiting! Was supposed to be having a cs on Friday but my blood pressure was too low so they couldn't do it. Sad

All thought of names is now on hold until we can work out how to actually get the baby born!

Hello, I hope you are now a proud new mummy all over again! What did u decide to call your baby then? :)

Tolalola · 01/06/2011 20:30

Thanks everyone! So many choices! I'll have to consult the clan again (but not DS, who's 3 and insists that he wants to call the baby James), and will hope that I can get online from the ward over the weeekend.

Exciting!

bagelmonkey · 01/06/2011 16:23

I always like to make sure that the initials won't spell anything you might regret!

exoticfruits · 01/06/2011 15:54

Elizabeth, Phoebe or Verity.
