There would be a 12 year age gap. What do you think?

How about Zara?

swash · 08/06/2011 09:44

I think it would be fine (speaking as a SM). My DH thinks it is fine too. There's a bit of a smile in the rhyme of course - but not enough to rule the name out completely if you and your DH love it.

Katie/Caitlin is tougher because it is the same name. Sorry KatieWatie. I had a few names ruled out because of DSS too.

CharlieCoCo · 07/06/2011 18:44

why dont you ask your step daughter what shebthinks about the name zoe for her sister. she may like the fact its close to her name and will feel included in the decision.

KatieWatie · 07/06/2011 17:30

I know siblings called Darren and Sharon :( It's very unfortunate

Must admit I'm torn on the OP's question. I'd quite like Caitlin for my baby if she's a girl but DH already has an (estranged) Katie aged 19 and I'm a Katie too. So it's probably not going to happen. If I'd set my heart on Caitlin since I was a little girl I'd probably be a bit more :( about it, but I'll get over it.

I think it's a bit unfair to assume the OP doesn't 'care' about Chloe's feelings if she names the child Zoe.

I think that's possibly the best 'how we met story' I've ever heard! :)

I know of someone who has three daughters- Amy, Chloe and Zoe. She's an Australian singer, well known if you're into gospel music.

sims2fan · 05/06/2011 12:58

I think it depends on what you think of rhyming names for siblings. Personally I hate them, but I know some people love them. I know sisters called Kelly and Shelly, and other sisters called Macey and Stacey. The very worst (in my opinion) was twins called Abby and Gabby. Not even shortened from Abigail and Gabrielle, just Abby and Gabby. I felt for them a bit, but some people like rhyming names.

MeantToStopAtTwo · 04/06/2011 17:18

I'm glad to know that's worked OK for you Bluddy. Are they very close in age?

I'm right here. DH is actually very keen on the idea but, don't worry, I doubt we'll be going through with it.

Wonders where Op went.

DilysPrice · 31/05/2011 17:04

Your DH should be posting.
"Can I call my DD1 Chloe and my DD2 Zoe?"
To which the answer is,
"No, don't be silly".

Northernlurker · 31/05/2011 17:01

No you can't. Chloe would be pissed off and even if she isn't her mother will be. Why make life hard for yourself?

Tuschinski · 31/05/2011 16:57

Of course not!

Xiaoxiong · 31/05/2011 16:52

A child called Zoe will have her name mistaken for Chloe all the time anyway, and it will drive her round the flipping bend. If she has a sister called Chloe that will just make it even more annoying. Bad idea all round I'd say.

Don't ask me how I know...Wink

FriskyMare · 31/05/2011 09:55

:o at kreecher, couldn't think of a boys name. Must try harder.

Grabaspoon · 31/05/2011 09:36

Meanttostop at two - the question isn't

Can I use Zoe if my DH already has a Chloe?

it's

Can I use Zoe if one of her siblings is already called Chloe?

or

Can I use Zoe if we already have a Chloe?

It doesn't matter if Chloe is your DH's child - she is part of your blended family, not a niece or cousin, and a sibling to the baby.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 31/05/2011 09:28

Or if you have a son, Joey. HTH

FriskyMare · 31/05/2011 09:17

Have you got a white cat? You could call that Snowy :o. Seriously, NO!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 31/05/2011 09:13

Agree that is shows a lack of sensivity and imagination.

nothingnatural · 31/05/2011 05:57

Nup. I wouldn't do it. For all the reasons above.

PotteringAlong · 31/05/2011 05:29

I'm afraid I agree. Never would you pick this for your own children - it looks like you haven't thought / considered Chloe if you do and that's not nice for your DSD
