Is there a female 'Sam' name that is not Samantha?

Ok not even preggers but I love the name Sam, we have a DD and want a 2nd LO so if it is a boy will be Samual. But if it is a girl would love to still have Sam but not keen on Samantha (too many memories of girls I did not like a school called Samantha).

So interested if anyone can think if a Sam name for a girl not Samantha.

Hope that makes sense!

Jessamine?

i was also going to suggest just having Sam on its own. the nn could be Sammy if you like that, but i, like you like Sam but not keen on Samantha or Sammy, so why not just have Sam.
Samia is probably the best one but sounds a bit like Smear, Samara is ok but sounds a bit lardi dar.

Just Sam is nice. Simple and punchy.

I think Tiger Woods and Charlie Sheen both have daughters named just Sam. (Although I appreciate that might not be the best reason to sway you :) )

'sameena' means fat by the way... i know people do have that name but the actual meaning of it is fat/obese!

i think samara sounds nice

Hmmm, it appears that I can not spell the name of my future son, this is worrying no? Perhaps I should just scrap Sam altogether?

Great suggestions ladies, the winner has to be Sambuca though :)

Samcam - Ha, ha, ha!

My DS is Samuel and I have been asked several times if it is "Samuel" or "Samual", although I can't say I have ever come across a "Samual" in any other situation, although it must exist since I have been asked.

HonestyBox · 25/05/2011 20:35

If it's a boy are you aware the conventional spelling is Samuel not Samual. As for girls all I can think of is Samia, Sahara and Samara.

RunsWithScissors · 24/05/2011 22:24

I really wanted to use samara, but DH wouldnt go for it, ended up with Samantha. Luckily I have no bad associations with the name :-)

CurlyhairedAssassin · 24/05/2011 22:20

There's a Samia in DS's class (SAM-ee-a not Sam-EE-a). She gets called Sammy by her mum. I like it.
