Honor and ???

What do you all think...?? Suggestions and comments welcome.

DD is Honor:

Girls
Beatrice [Bibi] Know it's very popular but it was my granny's name, and I've always loved it.
Iona,
Charlotte,
Claudia - know the meaning but still think it's lovely and very underused
Eliza
Alice
Marina
Darcey
Violet - Will this date?
Cosima
Katherine [Kit]
and
India [Indy] Yes I know it's already been done, but I just love nn Indy!

Boys: Charlie, Hugh, Arthur, Kit, Henry, Alexander, George, Tristan and Thomas..

DH and I can't agree on a boys name. Also our girls names are a bit more 'arty' than the boys which are quite classic. I have suggested Orlando, Noah, Jude and Rupert but DH veto them and therefore they have gone on the 'Dog' list...Blush Sad

TIA Smile

Evie or Thomas/Tom

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 23/05/2011 23:05

Grace.

Pedigree - sorry that didn't make much sense - does Honor and Eve's mum have the initials LK?

piginmuck · 23/05/2011 23:02

Pedigree - is the mum to Honor and Eve's initial LK?

mathanxiety · 23/05/2011 22:58

Beatrice [Bibi] -- LOVE, goes well with Honor, and great nn
Iona -- LOVE - but maybe sounds a bit like Honor?
Charlotte -- Like but it doesn't really stand out beside Honor.
Claudia -- always sounds clunky to me.
Eliza -- LOVE, and would be lovely with Honor.
Alice -- LOVE, very nice with Honor.
Marina -- coil, but nice name
Darcey -- Dislike, can't get past the arse in the middle. Not in the same league as Honor at all.
Violet -- 'shrinking violet', and the words 'violent' and 'violate' spring to mind (strange combination with Honor)
Cosima -- GORGEOUS, and goes well with Honor; very strong names.
Katherine [Kit] -- Lovely
India [Indy] -- different 'feel' altogether from Honor.

Charlie
Hugh
Arthur
Kit
Henry
Alexander
George
Tristan
Thomas

Like them all except Tristan. Henry and Hugh stand out for me.

I like most of your names, good taste! I think I like Kit best for a boy. Honor and Kit. Tristan is my second choice.

For a girl I think you should go with Bibi, for the family connections. Iona is nice but I think it sounds too similar to Honor. I also like Eliza.

bambiandthumper thank you, had a shocking bad and your comment made me Smile Love Milo but I don't think it would work with our surname, Cosmo, I love it but..Cosima for a girl, not sure I could do that to a wee boy [mmm]

Beatrice was my G-Granny as was Honor, so at least we would make both sides of the family happy. It's also DH fav's.
Bibi XXX sounds bloody brilliant. But so does India XXX and Kit XXX....arghhh it's tough I need to have lots of babies..but DH has said only 2 Sad

Henry, George and Thomas are lovely.

Like most of your girls names, but think I would choose Beatrice in memory of your Granny.

Sylvaniasandwich · 23/05/2011 06:57

I would go for Beatrice because you sound so joyful about it and because Bibi is a great nn.

excellentadventure · 22/05/2011 23:09

Mercy

bambiandthumper · 22/05/2011 21:19

Your names are fabulous :o

The only ones i'm not too keen on are Katherine, Darcey and Thomas, and favourites would be: Honor and Arthur, and all of your girls names bar Alice, Iona and Charlotte, and thats just because I don't feel they flow to well with Honor.

If you want more 'arty' boys names, how about Milo, Otto, Albie (short for Albert), Ludo, Cosmo or Ivo.

hellojude · 22/05/2011 20:56

Girl wise, it seems India is a popular choice [mmm] and here I was thinking it would get slammed! Grin Grin Time to start working on DH now as he's a bit iffy about it.

Far enough Squeak Smile I do like Hugo but DH doesn't. I've gone off having a 2nd 'H'..(for the time being)

I like Charles for a boy too, but nn Charlie.

PedigreeChump · 21/05/2011 20:45

I know of sisters called Honor and Eve. Lovely wee girls.

I like Charles for a boy. I like Hugh and Hugo but not sure about two "H" names together.

valiumbandwitch · 21/05/2011 20:32

Lois or Dulcie for a girl

Victor or Howard for a boy.

squeak2392 · 21/05/2011 20:01

May I suggest the ever-gorgeous Hugo, instead of Hugh?

squeak2392 · 21/05/2011 20:00

Just personal taste for George.
I think Thomas is too plain and too common to go with Honor, although there's nothing wrong with it.
Kit - Don't like nns as first names. Also, sounds like Kid, which is a horrible thing to actually name your child. Plus: 'Have you got your PE kit, Kit?'

hellojude · 21/05/2011 17:49

Squeak just out of interest why no too Kit, George and Thomas? Personal taste or something else? (really I'm a nosy old moo)

Jollster no doubt about it..for me Faith equals bonkers lady (sorry to any Faiths out there) Yup N.E.D and Flanders! Neither are good Grin

I like Ned as a NN for Benedict but am constantly told on here that it's a total no-go north of the border.

phew on the JT thing, must be 2 fruit-loop Faiths out there then... Grin

squeak2392 · 21/05/2011 16:01

With Honor I think:
Beatrice
Claudia
Violet
Cosima
India

For boys, anything but Kit, George or Thomas. Although Honor and Arthur might be a bit rhymey.

nickelbabe · 21/05/2011 15:34

I like India.

hellojude · 21/05/2011 15:29

jollster Thank you, we love it. You picked my 4 fav names..! your right..to may H's! Shame as I do like Henry.
Benedict, might grow on me. DH will just want Ben. Not sure about Tess, sounds like a cat name to me Grin
Oh and no my friends initials aren't JT..that would be a bit freaky.
