Alice-Quite nice but quite stiff/stuffy sounding. Forever linked with Alice in wonderland.
Eleanor - I like this name but not the nn Ellie.
Greta- Sounds a bit "trying too hard"
Anna-Rose- Much better as Anna, classic name, quite fiesty sounding.
Eliza - Not keen
Sylvie - Sounds like a nn for Sylvia.
Bethany - Very popular 10 years ago
Josephine - ok.

Josephine is the best from your list, I love the name. Also really like Greta and Sylvie (but prefer Sylvia).

Eleanor nn Nell
Eliza nn Lizzy
are both lovely.

Like Bethan (no y) too.

Josephine is a name I'd not previously considered, but really like Posy as a little NN with some grown up NN options too.

Greta, Sylvie and Josephine (nn Posy) for me.

tummytickler · 20/05/2011 20:14

I like Greta and Josephine

minipie · 20/05/2011 18:27

Alice - it's ok. I have a friend called Alice who never liked it and think that influences me, as it's otherwise a nice name.
Eleanor - nice, but sooo popular
Greta - bit ugly sounding to me
Anna-Rose - not keen on hyphens
Eliza - I like it, but prefer Elise
Sylvie - love this
Bethany - love this
Josephine - bit old ladyish for me.

Eleanor really pretty name but dislike nn Ellie

Alice and Eliza very nice and sound good with Matilda.

feckwit · 20/05/2011 11:14

I have a Matilda Alice!

Love all your names...

Cattleprod · 20/05/2011 11:10

I like Josephine, shortened to Effie.

Anna-Rose is the worst, anything double-barrelled should be avoided imo.

TeddyMcardle · 20/05/2011 11:08

I like Greta and Sylvie the best, they're both lovely names.

Cheeruploveitmightneverhappen · 20/05/2011 11:04

Alice - pretty, quite popular at the moment
Eleanor - there are soooo many small Ellies around. And it would get shortened to Ellie.
Greta - quite nice, actually could really grow to like that!
Anna-Rose - not that keen
Eliza - makes me think of a scullery maid
Sylvie - old lady name, it's quite pretty though
Bethany - very 90's
Josephine - like this the most
