Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Fitzwilliam and Philip for new ones. I fully expect to see Joshua/Zac/Harry on announcement cards this year.

Girls: Theodora and Arabella for new ones. I don't think the *-Mai/Eva/Evie/Isabelle/Ruby trend will die down for a while.

VivaLeBeaver · 18/05/2011 11:50

Definetly Pippa, as a m/w have noticed this over the last few weeks.

fishandlilacs · 18/05/2011 11:48

I love Jago-I seem to have a knack for choosing names i think are unusual then by the time the kids are thee there are 6 others at preschool! :)

AppleyEverAfter · 18/05/2011 11:46

Has anyone said Matilda?

Noah is popular around here too (NW) although I think that might have passed.

bigbluebump · 18/05/2011 11:07

Am surprised to see DS1 name (Quentin) being mentioned a few times, I hadn't realised it was becoming popular... We're currently thinking of names for DS2 and love Arthur and Clement, so perhaps we're all influenced by the same trends Smile.

Camerondiazepam · 18/05/2011 10:46

(secretly hopes you are right...)

my new sons name is on here a few times but i only know 1 other and everyone so far has commented it as unusual and different, so there mustn't be many round here!

freesias · 18/05/2011 10:05

also name that can be shortened to wills and kate but aren't william and catherine eg wilbur, wilfred and catlin, kathryn, kathleen (maybe not just yet)

smother · 18/05/2011 10:04

Noah
Isaac
Edward
Theo (may have already peaked)

freesias · 18/05/2011 10:00

i think anyting used by a celeb whose picture appears in a celeb type magazine or on tv or names appearing on soaps eg belle . i wonder whether Hope will see a meteoric rise

also sound a like names eg larry, gary ,barry to replace harry. also harold used more but shortened to harry

gulliver as a homage to oliver etc

arabella ,annabel again to replace isobel etc

melikalikimaka · 18/05/2011 09:56

Hester
Caleb
Rupert
Esme

alizee · 18/05/2011 09:11

"What are the latest celeb baby names...isn't that usually a factor?"

Moroccan and Monroe - lol.. i hope they won't be trendsetters

overthemill · 18/05/2011 09:08

if we're seeing a return to traditional names...i challenge you, all you trend setters Grin
i'd just like to put into the pot:
fanny was my granny's name (honest),
and rivers was my grandad's

Raahh · 18/05/2011 09:01

I am very cross with Pippa MiddletonGrin

DD2 (7 months) is Philippa Imogen- so dead common judging by the comments above.

However, I currently live in an area where Jayden/Kayden/Chantelle type names reign supreme, so I doubt it will suddenly become massively popular here (the local populace is more likely to be swayed by The Only Way is Essex, than the Royals)!Grin

coldcomfortHeart · 18/05/2011 08:07

Gutted to keep reading Reuben/Ruben, it's my current favourite for DC2, and hadn't encountered any mention of it before now... Isla/Islay/Eila, Sophie and Fin(d)lay are extremely popular here, so much so we have 'blond Sophie,' 'bunches Sophie,' 'big Sophie' (an adult, not a fat child!) 'Sophie from Tuesday group' etc! Otherwise DS has no clue which one I'm talking about.

bamboostalks · 18/05/2011 07:58

So many Finns, Finleys, Finlays here. It is really popular, know 7 born in the last year so it may have peaked. Amelie still very popular too.

Cattleprod · 18/05/2011 07:53

Wow, with all these old fashioned names trending, the school reception register will soon read exactly the same as the washing up rota at the pensioners coffee morning!! Grin

mamma2boyz · 18/05/2011 07:42

The last 3 boys I know who have been born very recently have all been Edward...Girls Betty/Delilah/Magdalene/Connie/Theodora. Much easier to be a bit out there with girls names clearly !..

Rillyrillygoodlooking · 18/05/2011 07:38

Two mentions of my Swiss grandmother's name, and one mention of DD's name. No mention of DS's name.

I am sooooooooo on trend as to be off the scale!

CheerfulYank · 18/05/2011 02:33

I'm sad about the Pippa thing; I've loved Philippa nn Pippa forever .

Any "Fin" names will be huge.

Harper will go the way of Taylor. Used to be an academic-sounding, strong name for a girl and is now quite downmarket.

Aidan and Liam have flamed out now and will be replaced by Declan (which I love) and Lachlan.

All the Jayden/Kaiden/Braydens will turn to names like Dawson (also unfortunate, it was my grandfather's middle name and I've always liked it.)

These are all American predictions, mind. :)

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 18/05/2011 01:40

Edith is on the up, definitely, although where I am there were more Edies than Ediths in the last few years (why? Why not just go with Edith and call them Edie? I do NOT understand nickname-as-real-name namers) (I am judgemental about the most obscure things)

Esme is arguably an Ella analogue, in keeping with my previous theory, along with Edie, Evie and Eden, all of which I've seen recently. And I know a few very young Elodies as well.

elodiemum · 18/05/2011 00:09

Edith does seem to be getting more popular. I think Pippa will become more popular too. (My mate has a 3 year old Pippa and is not impressed).

My dd's are Elodie and Phoebe (5 and 3). Phoebe seems to be getting more popular too.

I know about 6 Lola's and many many Louis's

hester · 17/05/2011 23:21

Oisin, I reckon. And Mary.

wildpoppy · 17/05/2011 23:19

William def on the up. I known four under two and royal wedding fever will make it worse. Lovely name though.

I think a lot of Elizabeths soon too, especially as Queen seems v popular.

Charlie on the up.

Florence also getting v popular.

I think Jane Austen type names might be popular again - Jane, Lydia, Emma etc

And for boys might quite dull names like Colin (sorry to any Colins out there) take off after Colin Firth?
