I am actually quite loving this at the moment. DH not so keen.

Any thoughts?

I think it's quite sweet, unusual but easy to pronounce.

Ok so a few more positive responses so it's not all bad.

Thanks for the replies everyone.....although perhaps some where a bit unnecessarily harsh.

I first thought of the French connotation too. Although my French isn't great so I might be mistaken.

I'm afraid my first thought was the Piper Alpha oil rig, sorry. I do think Pippa is a lovely name though.

MelinaM · 04/05/2011 20:52

No, it's simply awful, and American sounding to boot!

twooter · 04/05/2011 20:55

It made me think of 12 days of Christmas, and a pony I used to ride.

ohdoone · 04/05/2011 22:26

Don't like Piper and Pippa means wank in some languages an blow job in others!

happyjules · 04/05/2011 23:01

It is not American. It is in fact an old English name meaning pipe player. I think it is a gloriously upbeat and pretty name and unusual enough in the aray of overused names. No chance of being on of several of that name in a class. Love it which is why I have one!

HappyWifeandMum · 05/05/2011 02:49

No. Definitely no. I find it very unappealing and a bit on the senseless side, and I'm on this side of the pond! Hmm

mrsdaz · 05/05/2011 10:14

I like Piper but prefer Pippa

SpringyMcSpringyPants · 06/05/2011 00:32

My son is called Piper and it is a fantastic name, suits him down to the ground. It is not an American name at all, it is Old English and it is a name that has come down through my ancestors.
