Would call her Bea whatever but I am drawn to Beatrix for some reason (though did just read Peter Rabbit to DC tonight).

Any thoughts?

Beatrice has a classic, soft feel to it, whereas Beatrix is edgier and more arty, imo.

largeginandtonic · 20/05/2011 19:29

Both lovely but Beatrix is just gorgeous. I LOVE it.

youngjoly · 20/05/2011 19:21

Beatrice, to me, is pretty. Beatrix, to me, is ugly.

Stupid really but that's my honest reaction.

mich54321 · 19/05/2011 22:09

prefer Beatrice - sounds much nicer and nn would be Bea rather than Trixie

messylittlemonkey · 16/05/2011 13:45

Trix - sounds better I feel.

midori1999 · 15/05/2011 18:25

I love Beatrix, a very old friend named her DD Beatrix and I think that made me love the name even more as she was adorable!

DH wouldn't even consider it for a DD though. Sad

CarefulWithThatAxeEugene · 15/05/2011 17:19

Beatrice may well still get called Trixie. I know one who is.

Ciske · 15/05/2011 16:09

Beatrix is the Queen of the Netherlands, so either way your DD will follow into very royal footsteps.

gallicgirl · 15/05/2011 16:05

What do you call a woman with 6 pints of beer on her head?

I'd go for Beatrice. Grin

Duhart · 15/05/2011 15:56

Beatrix prettier imo

Cutiecat · 11/05/2011 23:38

I like Bea Bea. That is what i would call her. Out of the blue my BF told me she hates the name!

My DD is called Beatrice..I love it! Sometimes wonder if we should have gone for Beatrix..I like it just as much and it's probably a little less common. But both beautiful. We call her Bea-Bea.

ScousyFogarty · 04/05/2011 16:50

Prefer beatrice

Emelene · 04/05/2011 16:34

Beatrice. :)

Hedwig3 · 04/05/2011 11:48

Beatrix

flopsy1974 · 04/05/2011 08:51

Definately Beatrice.

LittleWhiteWolf · 04/05/2011 08:42

I prefer Beatrix, and I don't see a point in dissecting names into their potentially negative nicknames, unless they are glaringly obvious.

I've got Beatrix pegged for any future daughters, even though my DD has a name starting with B also.

argylesocks · 04/05/2011 08:29

Beatrix is much more interesting, Beatrice is a bit blah. And 'beer tricks' jokes? I can't imagine worrying about that it seems kind of far fetched. You can find some kind of joke for ANY name, I'd only worry about the really awful obvious ones

proudfoot · 04/05/2011 01:14

Beatrice is much nicer

qwerty123 · 04/05/2011 00:57

Beatrice.

cowboylover · 04/05/2011 00:50

Beatrice

I think it encourages a better prenounciation.

ChateauRouge · 04/05/2011 00:50

Beatrix.
Definitely.

MelinaM · 04/05/2011 00:26

I like both, Beatrix is more unusual though!

Sinkingfeeling · 04/05/2011 00:18

Also sounds a bit too like dominatrix for my liking Grin

Cutiecat · 03/05/2011 22:36

Yes I am not a huge fan of Trixie. I also worry about the 'Beer tricks' jokes.
