Not for me. A friend of a friend has one. Its not just me who thinks its stupid and kre8tive naming gone mad is it?

Awaits people telling me its Irish or something Grin. If its real then I will back down gracefully.

I came on to say: lovely name, but for the love of God spell it properly!

Glad to see I don't need to! (I'm pretty good at keeping my pedantic urges in - but wasn't going to be able to help myself this time).

Poor, poor child. A life-time of having to explain how to spell your otherwise very lovely and popular name.

TabithaTwitchet · 04/05/2011 21:55

Isn't Eeva the Finnish or Estonian spelling? Maybe it is derived from that?

I knew an Imagen and thought her parents had spelled Imogen incorrectly - then it turned out that they intended it to be pronounced Imagine! Grin

suwoo · 04/05/2011 21:51

Grin at Tidey.

Imogine is basically just Imagine, but with a mouthful of cake.

RancerDoo · 04/05/2011 21:44

Imogine? Bonkers.

Imogine all the people, living life in peace-oooh-oooooh-ooh-ooh-ooh

suwoo · 04/05/2011 21:44

I'm so glad its not just me and I'm thrilled with a full house of no its ridiculous's.

Shall I nip over to the other side for their opinions? Wink

Not fond of superfluous letters. Know of an Aemelia and an Amiie. Heh?

breatheslowly · 04/05/2011 21:38

pinkhebe · 04/05/2011 21:12

I know an Imogine

razzlebathbone · 04/05/2011 21:04

My DD is Edie and a few people who I don't see often have written her name as Eadie in cards etc. It's ridiculous.

Not only is eevee a poke on but its only fight move is running away. Rubbish.

RancerDoo · 03/05/2011 23:06

I think there are not enough Es. Eeeeevieeee would have been better. And given that I am a shouty mother Eeeeeeevieeee would be phonetic.

lurkerspeaks · 03/05/2011 22:23

You mean there is more than one in the world?

Poor child. Ridiculous way to spell a lovely name.

AvengingGerbil · 03/05/2011 18:53

Eevee is a pokemon. Just saying.

bananamom · 03/05/2011 18:52

I'm pretty sure that Caitlin Moran has an Eevie or Eavie. Very odd spelling.

WiiUnfit · 03/05/2011 18:46

Reminds me of "eerie" & for people who write loose r's that look more like v's IYSWIM it will look like that too Confused

I think too many people are trying to be original with spellings .etc, just think though - in years to come when a distant relative is tracing their family history they may think it was accidentally spelt wrong!

suwoo · 03/05/2011 13:59

Ha ha. It reminds me of weevil or evil.

CarefulWithThatAxeEugene · 03/05/2011 13:50

Reminds me of Eeyore.

suwoo · 03/05/2011 13:26

Check me out deliberately missing out the capital I to demonstrate my point. Wink

OP posts:
suwoo · 03/05/2011 13:25

Tis deliberate. Baby is a number of months old.

It is always writtens sans capital letter on fb too. it looks even worse as eevie tbh.

Could it be that she doesn't realise? Probably different, but a friend texted to say they'd decided their DD should be called a name spelt 'unusually' with an 'a'. I texted back saying I thought is was a lovely name, but spelt it in the more normal fashion with an 'i'. She now has an 'i'. Not for a second thinking it was just me, but maybe others had queried the spelling too, and I suspect this friend hadn't realised.

Or it could have been a text error Grin

GooseyLoosey · 03/05/2011 13:21

I assumed it was a typo. She will spend her whole life with the majority of people assuming the same and correcting it.

BellaBearisWideAwake · 03/05/2011 13:17

It looks like skeevy. It's amazing what difference an extra E makes

moogalicious · 03/05/2011 13:11

not as bad as evvie - at least eevie is phonetic
