Husband loves this name...and I quite like it, what do you think of Marnie for a girl?

Thoughts please...

Thanks

Really like it - there's a great children's book - Marnie was here, When Marnie was here - can't remember exactly.

BigSooz · 28/04/2011 20:35

Awful. Sounds totally made up and like a character in a bad American teen flick.

pointydog · 28/04/2011 20:30

Like it

CarefulWithThatAxeEugene · 28/04/2011 20:25

Yes, I never see Marjorie mentioned on here. I would have thought it would be catching on now as so many old-fashioned names are coming back, and much less pleasant-sounding ones at that.

Like it... and absolutely love Marcie which has a similar feel.

flossymcginty · 28/04/2011 16:26

Loved Marnie! It was very top of our list until we made the 'Our Marnie' - Armani connection. I could have wept....

girliefriend · 27/04/2011 20:46

Marnie like it although it does make me think of marmite which as a marmite lover isn't a bad thing!!!!

Love it! One of my faves.

randomimposter · 27/04/2011 20:40

like it
know a very spirited nearly 3 year old...

midnightexpress · 27/04/2011 20:40

Mardie wouldn't be good if you live in the north though!

midnightexpress · 27/04/2011 20:40

I know a lovely 12 year old Marnie too . It's a very pretty name and unusual without being pretentious. I don't think most people would make the association with the Hitchcock film.

HooverTheHamaBeads · 27/04/2011 20:35

Like it. Also like Mardie who is an old family friend.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 27/04/2011 20:30

I love it. My DDs nursery nurse has just called her new baby Marnie.

BuntyPenfold · 27/04/2011 20:28

Love it and I know a charming 12 year old called this.

Tuschinski · 27/04/2011 16:35

It's my friend's dog's name, after the film, but I still like it.

mrsdaz · 27/04/2011 16:32

lol @ our marnie :0)

mathanxiety · 27/04/2011 15:58

Sounds like the name of a down at heel waitress in a greasy spoon, circa 1932.

LadyWellian · 27/04/2011 15:52

I know a Marnie. She is nice and I think it's a pretty name without being too selfconsciously 'unusual'.

GooseyLoosey · 27/04/2011 15:52

Reminds me of the Alfred Hitchcock film and Winston Graham book. Marnie was not a particularly happy character. Also find it a bit 1960s American.

sharbie · 27/04/2011 15:51

i like it very much.its cool.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 27/04/2011 15:50

It sounds as though it is short for something or an N crept into Marie.
Not one I would consider.

Eglu · 27/04/2011 15:49

I really like it. I met a girl called Marnie a couple of years ago and thought what a lovely name it was.

whizzyrocket · 27/04/2011 15:45

Sounds american to me.
