If you had twins you could have Dee Dee and Dee Ess.

CarefulWithThatAxeEugene · 24/04/2011 14:20

Exactly, it's a nickname, not a proper name. That's what most people have said.

LaydeeC · 24/04/2011 13:47

what generally mean comments.
My niece is known as DeeDee or Dee (rn Danielle). She's in her early 20s.
not sure about a revival as I've never thought it was that popular.
also not quite sure of the need for the dismissive comments either. I'd far rather it than the bland Kate and Katie et al

Grin at JellyBeans.

Double D.

Marginally ok as a family nick-name.
Always not ok as an official name.

BigSooz · 24/04/2011 12:03

No. It's awful.

CarefulWithThatAxeEugene · 24/04/2011 11:45

Nickname in France for Didier.

edam · 24/04/2011 10:36

Thanks for the Mandarin fact, Hengshan, am storing that one away as I'm sure it will come in useful at some point!

Ladyloo · 24/04/2011 10:34

we use it as a short form of Lydia.

purepurple · 24/04/2011 09:22

Hey ho let's go!

ShoutyHamster · 24/04/2011 09:19

DeeDee Ramone

Yeah go for it :)

JellyBeansOnToast · 24/04/2011 08:11

Oh come ON. DD....DD

I am spelling it out for you!

pilates · 24/04/2011 07:50

I've never heard of it, its dreadful.

HengshanRoad · 24/04/2011 05:09

It means "penis" in Mandarin Chinese, if that's any help...

expatinscotland · 24/04/2011 02:31

This is the name of the eldest girl whose younger siblings could not pronounce 'Deirdre'. It is therefore not a real name, but a nickname given by infants like my 2-year-old.

Else it might be the nickname of someone whose name is Diana, but still, it's not a real name.

Don't go there. It is made up the product of hormones stuff.

HappyWifeandMum · 24/04/2011 02:22

Looks like you might have one vote up there... Personally, I would definitely pass.

JellyBeansOnToast · 24/04/2011 01:33

DD, people, DD.

edam · 24/04/2011 00:03

It's a nickname, not an actual name that you'd put on a proper birth certificate. Imagine some poor person having to admit their full formal name is Dee Dee every time they apply for a passport or a driving licence, or get married, or correspond with Revenue & Customs or have to respond to a speeding fine....

TethersEnd · 23/04/2011 23:54

I love it.

EllieG · 23/04/2011 23:46

Is is short for something? It sounds like one of the silly girls in Grease to me.
