We're only ttc at the moment and is to go with sibling Eliza (not Elizabeth).
Also which of the pronunciations is most popular do you think? Is it getting more popular? as we've met a couple of young Clementines recently.

Boys name is already decided and would be Louis.

Clemency is just so beautiful and has such a beautiful meaning :)

I'm voting this name of the week though, I've never seen so many threads about one name!

clearsaint · 09/05/2011 13:26

I'll ask dh about Clemency and Clementina. Thanks.

I prefer Clementina ('teena').

It is a pretty name, but Clem / Clemmy is vile. Agree with the clammy/pleghmy vibes!

MercurySoccer · 07/05/2011 12:36

I'd pronounce the name Clemen-tyne, and I'd pronounce the fruit the same way. Clemency is lovely too.

Strictly · 06/05/2011 19:15

I went to uni with a Clemency you see. She was perfect, beautiful, talented etc.... with no fruit conections or annoying old songs!

Clemency one

Clemency two

and 3!

All fabulous Grin Not an orange in sight Wink

clearsaint · 06/05/2011 11:29

I thought the song was much earlier than Churchill??

I want to use Clementyne, but I don't know now. How do people pronounce the fruit? I say tyne too, wouldn't that be the same?

Clemency is a name I haven't heard of before. Interesting.

The song was about clementine Churchill wasn't it?
I really like it and love Clemmie as a nick name.

Giselle99 · 02/05/2011 20:44

I like it, pronounced Clementyne and with Clemmie as the nickname. Never knew Clemency was a name - have only heard it used as 'legal forgiveness'

kleeen · 01/05/2011 23:08

NN Tiny!

Strictly · 26/04/2011 20:27

you say that but I've met 4 since January, all under 1. Plus I know of 2 others primary school age.

Justfuckingdoit · 26/04/2011 20:20

I love it, not even in the top 200 names in the UK, so will stand out amoung all the Olivia's and Evie's.

Strictly · 26/04/2011 20:14

Was my 'special' name but ruined by 'flemmy Clemmie', 'Orange' and that bloody song...... I couldn't go through life having that sung at me every day Shock

Plus it's very try hard sloany.

I changed my mind to Clemency instead. Similar but without the orange link or the song! Plus I'm not keen on 'ine' endings, they seen hideously 70's... Christine, Pauline etc.

Actually the pronunciation Clemen'teen' instead of 'tyne' is French, not English.

Karenhappuch · 26/04/2011 15:43

Love Clementine pronounced Clemen-TEEN. Works extremely well with Eliza too.

Prinpo · 24/04/2011 20:16

I love the name, and would assume it was pronounced Clementyne. I must have become Americanised Grin.

Goes very well with Eliza (as does Louis).

Hatterbox · 23/04/2011 21:54

I love Clementine, but only pronounced clem-ehn-teen, as the 'tyne' pronunciation is an Americanisation.

The world's most famous Clementine was, without doubt, Clementine Churchill and hers was pronounced with the (correct) 'teen' pronunciation.

goodegg · 23/04/2011 21:24

Beautiful name, but it reminds me of Kate Winslet's character in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

mumonthenet · 23/04/2011 21:22

toon? what am I typing?

too, not toon.

mumonthenet · 23/04/2011 21:21

oh god, I adore the name Clementine. ( Pronounced tyne.)

Love Louis and Eliza toon.

suspiria · 23/04/2011 21:11

I really like Clementine with nn Emmie. Eliza is very nice and Louis would fit with it perfectly.

CheerfulYank · 23/04/2011 01:35
