I need a girl's name that doesn't seem too chalk-and-cheese with Nigel. Suggestons please.

There's nothing wrong with the name Nigel, it's unfashionable at the moment but names do have a habit of coming around again... I bet there will be a Nigel revival! I'm sure we all have a sense of humour, but agree that if a thread is about a toy, best to say at the outset.

There is nothing hideous or jokey about the name Nigel, nor about any of the suggestions that have been made. There are one or two that I don't personally like very much, but that's just personal taste - for example, I've always thought Harriet a rather ugly name, but it has been popular for many years now.

Oh thank God. All is well with the world after all. It's an elepahnt.

Mavis

Then Elizabeth is the name you are after, obviously.

ZombieComforts · 11/04/2011 21:32

notanumber I didn't say Nigel was my DS. Nigel is the cuddly elephant belonging to DD. She also has a dolly which she's getting quite attached to, so we need to think of an appropriate name. Can't keep calling her "DD's Dolly". Would never do.

Nigel is named after Mr Pargeter, btw, but we do quite like it. DS2 has a favourite cuddly called Tarquin from which he is inseparable. I wasn't allowed to use that name on any of my children

I LIKE Nigel!

notanumber · 11/04/2011 19:40

Ok. I shall be the first to say it.

Really? you have a son called Nigel?

I'm only checking because you (according to a brief glance at your other pots) have three DCs already. Why are you only concerned about the new baby matching Nigel? Surely Araminta and Mohammed must be considered as well as PFB Nigel?

Ha, Brenda was the mother of my uncle Nigel. You seem to be on the same wavelength as my family! Vivienne was another family member from that generation.

That's a tricky one actually
