How popular is Thea...?

blueberrymoon · 09/04/2011 14:40

It was 267 in the 2009 stats, but just been nosying at some old threads, and it seems it might be becoming more popular since then?

How many Theas do you know? Does anybody know how I could find out its more recent popularity? Thanks all x

I knew one from school, she was an absolute bitch, it's put me right off the name tbh.

Rockmehardplace · 07/10/2023 15:38

I know 2 Thea’s, (both Thee-a), 10 & 2. I like it a lot!

Thea Jane
Thea Mary
Thea Beatrice
Thea Elise

lololizzy · 07/10/2023 01:00

My niece is but she's actually Athea and doesn't like it so now known as Thea

SunnyFog · 03/10/2023 22:00

I know about 20. Variously thee-a thay-a tee-a tay-a.
I also know a Dea, a Tia, a Taya….
Can be frustrating as they all very specific how their names should be pronounced.

grancofsean · 02/10/2023 14:44

A friend of mine from Germany is named Thea; she says it is 'tay-a.'

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 10/04/2011 21:20

I don't know any (South Wales) but I do think it's a lovely name.

mybootsaremuddy · 10/04/2011 21:20

I met a little Thea at a toddler group about 4 yrs ago, would be about 6 now.

I think Thea Elizabeth is gorgeous!

lololizzy · 10/04/2011 21:20

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 10/04/2011 21:20

I like it, by the way. Thea is a good name. And also, it reminds me of singer/songwriter Thea Gilmore (which is good)

notanumber · 10/04/2011 21:12

I know three, all under five.

But they all hang out in Stoke Newington which has a very specific and very small pool of quirky-yet-nothing-that-will-stand-out-in-a-bad-way-at-university-interviews-middle-class names.

Sooo.... I would say that it depends on your area, innit.

magicmelons · 10/04/2011 20:17

I know one, she is 2. My dd goes to a girls school and there is none there, its usually a pretty good gauge we have lots of Isabelle's, Beatrix's and Emily's and Alexandra's. Although it maybe new generation popular, i have my eye on Annabelle for next baby if dd but it seems to be becoming more common even though i only know grown ups with the name.

I'ts a very pretty name.

eurycantha · 10/04/2011 19:50

I met a Thea last week she is the first Thea I`ve known ,she is 5months old.

Emelene · 10/04/2011 19:25

I really like it! I think's its pretty and people should know how to spell it, but I don't know any Theas at all. So in my area it must be pretty unusual.
