Opinions would be much appreciated on these two girls names please. Obviously, middle names are not a big issue at the moment but I like:

Alexandra Scarlett
Harriet Daisy

???

Alexandra
Not keen on Scarlett, nor Harriet

catinthehat2 · 06/04/2011 22:14

why can't you have both?
in either order they are really not bad at all together Confused

I love Harriet, nn Hattie

Thanks everyone Smile. Alexandra being shortened is something that does bother me a little! I love Xander as a boys nn for Alexander but not really Xandra for a girl, as it reminds me of Sandra which I am not so keen on - no offence to any Sandra's Grin. Alex is ok though.

Does shortening bother you? If so - unless you want to spent the next several year saying 'it's Alex- andra, actually' then I'd go for Harriet.

Alexandra is one of those names that people cannot seem to help themselves from shortening. Not that it's not a perfectly nice MN, but you know what I mean.

Obviously Harriet could be Hattie, or Harri or Hats, but it is less natural for people to do this without invitation, somehow.

Anyway, I prefer Harriet. Reminds me of Tom's Midnight Garden.

Prefer Harriet.
