"I've never met a nasty <insert name>...."

It's funny how your liking of a name is influenced by people you know. On any given name thread, someone will always pipe up, 'I was bullied by a Gemma/Mandy/Annabel at school so I hate that name now', but it's rarer that people say 'God, that's an objectively horrible name, but I know a fabulous Gertrude so I actually really like it now'.

I don't go in much for Irish names usually, but I make an exception for Siobhán. I've never met a nasty one. All the Siobháns I've ever come across have been really sunny and lovely.

However all (ok, most) of the Joshuas I've met are a different matter.

I think it's just so irrelevant. I hate when somebody says 'oh i know a gorgeous little Hyacinth'. That means nothing. I mean, it does to the person who knows the hyacinth, because their preconceptions of what a hyacinth looks like have been altered, but i don't think you can spread that on a thread.

I have a Joshua who works for me who's almost the coolest person I've ever met
I've never met a nasty Alex, Claire, Ellie, Lizzie, Gemma, Erin, Jude, Penny, John, Michael or Stephen

I've never met a nasty Janet. BUt i don't think that name is making a come back!

I know of many Joshua's so it's a mixed name here.

I've only ever come across Joshua's of questionable character too!!! ...quite an effeminate name I feelGrin

I've yet to meet a nasty Alice, nor Jemima for that matter, needless to say these are two of my favourites!

There seems to be something about the Gemma's and Jessica's that I've met tooHmm
