A warm hello! (Introducing myself)

Hello! I am brand new here, and so looking forward to getting to know you ladies! I have been obsessed with names for as long as I can remember! I have 4 children, named Rebecca, Eliana, Anthony David, and Saoirse. We are planning another baby very soon, and I am looking for solid, expert opinions on such things as name origin, pronunciation, flow, and style! From what I have read in the different threads so far, there seems to be a virtual treasure trove of knowledge here! :)

So, enough about me... I would love to meet some of you lovely ladies and hear any suggestions you may have for romantic/exotic sounding names for girls!!

Hmmm...romantic/exotic... well, I don't know exactly what you're looking for but when I think of those terms I think:

Romantic- Rosamund, Lorelai, Eleanora

Exotic- Magdalena, Linnea, Mireille, Valentina

Hello! Thanks so much for the suggestions! Sorry about not being specific enough... Let me try to describe my style a little better...

I love froofy, frilly, girly names that age well. I do not like older names like Lillian or Vivian, but love Liliana and Vivienne. Our three top contenders right now for a girl's name are Elisheba, Abrielle, and Angelie. Hope this helps!

Lovely names....though I can't help notice that you have 2 children with 'different' names, and 2 with what I would call 'normal ordinary' names. How did that come about?
How do you pronounce Saoirse?

Arraminta. I think it's really sweet. I also love Ottilie but my beloved sister says it sounds like Utterly Butterly!! Bloody Hell can I do that to my child?

Sparkleshine... Thank you! As far as the two "normal ordinary" names, that is actually very simple... I did not have the privilege of birthing nor naming our oldest, and both my husband and I have always wanted a Jr., thus our son! :) We have Garrison selected to be our next boy's name. We pronounce Saoirse the southern Irish way (as I understand it) of " Sare -sha". If my research is correct, Northern Ireland pronounces it " Seer -sha". But I am sure many people here know MUCH more about that than I do! ;) I am truly here to learn!

I like Garrison. (Garrison Keillor is big around these parts, and I knew a lovely little Garrison as well.)

I think Araminta is pretty too, and Arabella. :)

Do your children have middle names? I'd be interested to know them, as all lovely names! :)

Thank you, CheerfulYank! Yes... I am familiar with and can appreciate Keillor, but our choice of that name was not associated with him at all. We actually like the military connotations of the word itself.

blueberrymoon... I love your name suggestions! As you already know my son's middle name, (and Jr.) I will share with you our two little girls' middle names...

Eliana Mia Hope

and

Saoirse Alexandrina Victoria (I know it is long, but we love it!)

Also, am I mistaken, or isn't Honoria pronounced "Ah-NOR-ee-uh"?

Yes, not like GONE-uh-ree-uh at all :)

I'm a big PG Wodehouse fan,and there's an Honoria in a few of the Jeeves books.

There are a lot of names that I love but our surname is Brick, so one must tread very carefully :o

Are Eliana and Liliana pronounced with the ending 'arna' or 'anna'?

Glad you like suggestions, other names I like that may not meet your criteria are Phoebe, Sophia, Pearl, Athena, Cordelia...? Oh I love loads for girls, I find boys difficult!!

I was just talking about Cordelia on another thread because I think Coco is a cute nickname. :) I know what you mean about being a name-nerd, I've had my future DD's name picked out for years .

How do you pronounce Eleanora? (My guess is "Eh-lee-uh-NOR-uh") I absolutely adore the nn Elea!!

Nope, just Ella-nora basically :) She will probably be called Elle. I've put a lot of thought into a child who isn't even conceived yet... :)

Saw on another thread that you're in American, whereabouts are you?
