Saffron - honestly, poncey and naff or not?

We haven't found out the sex yet, that's in April but we want to pick names ready like we did when I was pregnant with DS so we can call it by it's name instead of Peanut, which is the moniker it currently goes by.

DH mentioned Saffron last night for a girl and I sort of like it but I'm in two minds about whether it's poncey and a but naff. Ghosts of Ab Fab are hauntin me "saffy darling, saffs, saffy ... "

Honest opinions?

I like it.

We considered it for DD but chose Willow instead.

It's quite popular round here. I think it's lovely and not at all poncey or naff. Saffrons do get called Saffy but is there really any harm in that? People call thier kids Richard knowing full well what that'll be shortened to so lets get "Saffy" in perspective!

I teach one who is 8 and lovely! It suits her. I quite like it.

I'm really not sure I do like it. DH thinks I'm being too picky but so glad to know there are like-minded people!

I was in a park today and there were too girls called this there. One was clearly uber posh, the other, err, wasn't. And yes, both are called Saffy day to day. PIck something else imo

I like it, but then I have a friend called Saffron who is now in her 40s. Personally I don't think it's too poncy, or naff either.
