DH loves it (and he is hard to please!), what do you think...?

Rather 'downmarket' in my neck of the woods apparently - neither classy nor classic.
It is the name of a country to me.
Indira is OK though.

helendigestives · 25/03/2011 17:59

I think it does strike a little of the colonial exoticising - perhaps Indigo or Indira, as suggested by someone else?

PixieCake · 24/03/2011 17:26

Personally I love it (makes me think of the Taj and all things exotic), but then someone put me off when they told me it conjured up images of Delhi Belly and the slums.

smother · 23/03/2011 22:17

I think it sounds beautiful... and Indie is also beautiful as a nickname.... but the problem I have with it is the question why you would name your child after a country?

What about Indigo or Indira?

growing3rdbump · 23/03/2011 18:34

I like it. I know an India. Or how about Indira. I also know an Asia.

vaginiasmonalogue · 23/03/2011 12:13

I really like it. I love indie too!

girlscout · 23/03/2011 10:21

Posh 20 years ago ,but now a bit pretencious. Sorry.

Makingaminime · 23/03/2011 10:13

I think it's beautiful but I have asked people about it before and it is a bit of a Marmite name. Also some people think it is "chavvy on the wrong person" whatever the hell that is supposed to mean!

Mum2Pea · 23/03/2011 08:57

Sorry, dont like it, maybe its because im indian?!?!
to me, its like naming a child England or Wales!

Whelk · 22/03/2011 21:09

I like it but have a slightly uneasy feeling about being slightly colonial. Possibly over-thinking it though!

PepsiPopcorn · 22/03/2011 21:04

I don't really like it, sorry.

Onion1968 · 22/03/2011 20:51

It's lovely. Very, very nice.

LetThereBeRock · 22/03/2011 20:20

It's beautiful.

onadietcokebreak · 22/03/2011 20:19

I started a thread a while ago about this name. General consensus was it's lovely.

GetOrfMoiLand · 22/03/2011 20:17

I think it's lovely, and rather grand in its way.

belindarose · 22/03/2011 20:17

It's quite nice. However, I know sisters India and Africa. Please don't do that!
