Vaguely posh women off the telly.

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 22/03/2011 14:31

Tamsin - pretty, but maybe a bit 80's. Very uncommon now I think.

Miranda - beautiful, very classy. Although Miranda in The Tempest is v annoying. I wanted to call dd this but my H vetoed it.

Claudia - Nice, maybe a little harsh sounding. And what would you shorten it to?

cookingbaby2 · 22/03/2011 14:35

Whoops hadn't made TV connection!

My worry was that Claudia was a little harsh sounding. I used to teach a little Claudia who got Claudie which is sweet but I'm not at all keen on Claud.

I like all three theink they are very strong but pretty sounding names.

Tamsin was on my list - I think of a strong girl who is at one with the earth and her surroundings

Miranda - the brillant actress Miranda richardson

Claudia - I think of a red headed girl

this maybe my pregnancy brain working over load!

Carmen123 · 22/03/2011 14:52

Tamsin - strong but only when she needs to be. classy

Miranda - pushy

Claudia - strong and independent.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 22/03/2011 14:55

Personally, I think Tamsin is a great name, have lived with it for 33yrs now... :) I did have a little chuckle at some of the descriptions tho!

muminthecity · 22/03/2011 14:56

Tamsin - Outhwaite

Miranda - Hart

CLaudia - Winkleman

Grin Sorry!

apples82 · 22/03/2011 15:28

I thought Miranda as in Sex In The City!

Newmummytobe79 · 23/03/2011 09:48

Muminthecity - that's exactly what I thought! x (or Claudia Schiffer!)

smother · 23/03/2011 10:11

Tamsin - a very very pretty name for a very very pretty girl! I think its a good name because it's not popular but not off the wall.
(would be tempted to use it myself but not keen on the potential nn Tammy because of tampon connection). Also like Yasmin and Jasmine.

Miranda - a sensible all-rounder - a capable happy woman's name!

Claudia - I find this name a little harsh to be honest.

Bucharest · 23/03/2011 10:29

Much of a muchness. And yes, vaguely posh people off the telly.

Like Tamsin best.

MyMamaToldMe · 23/03/2011 10:45

Only like Tamsin out of the 3. Miranda and Claudia sound too sensible for my liking!

EricNorthmansMistress · 23/03/2011 12:28

All nice, slightly posh names, but not too posh.

BelligerentGhoul · 23/03/2011 17:41

Love Miranda and Claudia. Tamsin is that tart-book-woman, I think.

nickelbabyhatcher · 23/03/2011 17:42

I like Tamsin.
and Claudia

not Miranda so much, because it sounds very posh middle aged woman-ish

usedtobeahappycamper · 23/03/2011 18:37

What about Claudia pronounced Cloudier?

ellesabe · 27/03/2011 20:48

Tamsin - Beautiful olive skin

Miranda - Freckles

Claudia - Curly hair

helendigestives · 27/03/2011 21:28

I think these are all lovely names. Claudia and Tamsin were pretty, out-going girls I knew at school, and Miranda is The Tempest for me.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 28/03/2011 00:36

The tart book is by Tamasine Day Lewis. I presume it's pronounced in the same way? (i.e. you don;t pronounce the second 'a').

CaptainBarnacles · 28/03/2011 00:38

I like them all. Miranda is my fave. Claudia reminds me of Winkelman, but that is a good thing, imo. Claudie as a nn is sweet. Tamsin probably my least favourite, because of T. Day-Lewis, who is a bit odd. But T. Outwaithe is nice, so that balances it out!

CointreauVersial · 28/03/2011 00:49

My newborn niece is Tamsin. She's half-Chinese, and the name has quite an oriental flavour, so perfect. Unusual baby name these days.

fizzybagpuss · 28/03/2011 01:13

My DD is named Claudia. So I'm slighty biased. She looked like a little china doll when she was born and despite our long list of choices it was the name we felt suited her.
She used to get called Claudie by her friends when she was little but now she's a teenager it tends to be Clauds, neither of which I'm particularly fond of I have to admit. It also tends to be mis-pronouced on a regularly basis which annoys her. Still a fab name though!
