Looking for a 'celebrity' baby name

OK, now if I'm honest, I would say that I genuinely like the unusual names that celebrities give their children. My faves are probably names like Bluebell, Blossom, Peaches, Honey, Tallulah Bell and Betty (for girls) and Romeo, Kingston, Cruz and Ever (for boys). Although I am not a celebrity, I would like a real 'celebrity' name for my next child. I wonder if I am alone in this, or if anybody else feels the same? I doubt that I would have the guts to do this, I will probably end up with something boring from the Top 100, but it's fun to imagine.

So tell me, what names would you go for if you had artistic licence to choose whatever name you liked?

By the way, please feel free to take the piss and post ridiculous names - I will probably like them Grin

Mariposa's sweet, it means butterfly doesn't it? And you could use Posy for a nickname. Although I do know a little Posy, and I can't help thinking "unfortunate, but true".

Nothing funny or celebrity-ish about Cordelia is there? Mind you, I always did like The Happiest Millionaire. I think they used Cordi as a nickname.

Umm,

Girls-Eponine (I love Les Mis)
Boys-Alazarin (think that might be a Jilly Cooper one?)

names i like but would never use, mainly because DH would veto them are:

Girls: Caana, Genevieve, Hetty,
Boys - Arlo, Xavier, Zac

NB: Any rumours of me being a former stalker of Joaquin Phoenix are entirely false! [buwink]

Hatterbox · 26/04/2011 09:43

Melina M - Joaquin Phoenix's birth name is Joaquin Rafael, he was not born 'Leaf Joaquin'. Joaquin was born when the family were living in Spanish-speaking Puerto Rico and therefore they chose to give him an Hispanic name.

When he was younger, he didn't like the fact his siblings all had nature names and he didn't, so he decided he wanted to be known as Leaf. He appears as 'Leaf Phoenix' in films as a child actor, but from the age of 15 he reverted back to his birth name, Joaquin.

Thus the family's birth names are:

River Jude

Rainbow Joan of Arc (Raine)

Joaquin Rafael (known as Leaf from the ages of 4-15)

Liberty Mariposa

Summer Joy

Crispin Satsuma.

It was the made up name of my work hypothetical alterego's child. I can't remember what my alterego was though, which upsets me. I will ask tomorrow, see if anyone can remember.

You are more than welcome to use it. DH won't let me, I tried Grin

There's a lovely children's book called Odd Velvet.

Good choice, I think :)

BornAgainDomesticGoddess · 25/04/2011 05:59

Well, we are thinking of calling her... Velvet. It is a name I have always liked, plus the obvious Liz Taylor connection.

Victoria Beckham is due before me, I hope she doesn't pinch it Grin.

I also love Goodluck Jonathan as a name (I think he's a president of an African country - apologies for my very poor general knowledge).

surprise · 23/04/2011 21:10

When I was in the doctor's the other day, there was a girl of about 10 in there who was called Lollipop; it was completely genuine as they always call out your full name in there. Have to say I quite liked it Blush

I like the sort of names I like simply as that really some of them are more avangarde We had Seraphina as a top 5 for dd3 but she didnt look like a Seraphina when she was born so she got one of the other names. On our name choices through our time has also been

Aurorah
Otis
Amabel (note the M - good oldfashioned name but many dont know it)

I cant think of any others right now chuckles too early in the morning

Then maybe you should stop your troll-like behaviour and consult your MH professional.

I refuse to entertain this nonsense any further.
