First baby, don't know the sex. We've picked a girl's name or two, but completely stuck on a boy's name (so it must be one!) - due in three weeks...

Curious to what associations you make with these names that we currently like, rather than if you like or dislike - what do you think?

Barnaby
Barney
Edward (although we'd call him Ned)
Frederick
Henry
Joby
Kit
Theo

Middle name John after both our fathers.

Thank you!

Interesting so far - thank you.

We hadn't thought of the bear association!

Joby's my uncle's name (now in his 70s); I've always liked it.

Barnaby = bear
Barney = rubble
Edward = love it. Hate Ned, sounds like an old nag.
Frederick = Bit old mannish
Henry = ok
Joby = Trying too hard.
Kit = the car from night rider, or a girls name!!
Theo = like it, but quite a few of them nowadays.

Can't go wrong with John though !!

I like Edward John, Frederick John, Theodore John or Henry John.

Barnaby - OK
Barney - bear
Edward - like, classic
Frederick - like, classic
Henry - like, classic
Joby - don't like, wouldn't flow with John
Kit - don't like
Theo - nice as nickname for Theodore
