OH read an entire baby name book last night and this is what he came up with. Thing is, I quite like it Blush

It's too silly, right?

Jovan is also a Slav name (Serbian for "John").

squeak2392 · 19/03/2011 13:38

Jovan's quite nice, although it looks Asian to me (which is fine, if you're Asian).

Jupiter's cool, but I think that's all it's got going for it. Zeus is much better (my friend was considering it for a mn and I've said that if she calls her son Zeus, I'll call my daughter Hera :P She didn't answer me though :P).

squeak2392 · 19/03/2011 13:35

Jove sounds unfinished. 'Jehovah' and 'Jehosephat' automatically spring to mind. I wouldn't say it's silly as such, but I don't like it.

I do like the name Job, but the spelling is a major turn off, for the reasons mentioned. (Also there are quite a few people out there unfamiliar with the Bible and would therefore pr it wrong.)

FranSanDisco · 19/03/2011 11:07

I had a little boy called Jovan at my Nursery.

UndiscoveredApprentice · 19/03/2011 11:00

I hate Jove, but actually really like Jupiter!

Bunbaker · 18/03/2011 23:21

I know, but seeing it written down will call for a lot of derision from the unenlightened and especially children.

TheGreatStupendo · 18/03/2011 22:05

(You know Job is pronounced Jobe, yes?)

Jove is bad but Job is awful - boob job, blow job, hand job, Saturday job, good job, bad job - nonono!

Buda · 18/03/2011 12:09

An Australian friend called her DS Jove. Have lost touch so don't know there were repercussions!

PepsiPopcorn · 18/03/2011 12:08

Joe?

CuppaTeaJanice · 18/03/2011 12:07

Big job? Blow job more like!

Bunbaker · 17/03/2011 21:19

TheGreatStupendo · 17/03/2011 20:27

How about Jonah, Jude or Joel?

Sidge · 17/03/2011 20:20

Jupiter is vaguely useable depending on where you live and what your surname is.

Jove is just a bit daft.

lilyberry · 17/03/2011 19:23

By Jove!

No.

Bunbaker · 17/03/2011 18:48

By Jove was the first thing that came to mind. I have an Irish friend and she says this all the time.

Please don't inflict this name on your child.

meditrina · 17/03/2011 18:45

Nn for jovan? [ clutching at straws emoticon]

zingally · 17/03/2011 18:42

By jove! PLEASE DON'T.

banjomanjo · 17/03/2011 17:37

PepsiPopcorn · 17/03/2011 16:53

You'd get sick of "By Jove" jokes.

weimy · 17/03/2011 16:16

joydivisionovengloves · 17/03/2011 16:14

TheGreatStupendo · 17/03/2011 15:06

That sounds about right (I have very little classical knowledge Blush)

He was the most powerful of the Roman gods, or something like that, according to our baby name book.
