Bridie was my mothers name - she died when I was young. My daughter will is due around her anniversary.
I really don't like the name Bridie but would be open to having some derivation of it as my childs second name.
We are 90% decided that babys first name is Hannah.

Bridget - hate it
Brid - no
Bree - too desperate housewives
Bea - maybe, but bares little resemblance to Bridie!

Am I missing anything obvious?

My FIL calls my MIL this (she is a Brigid).

Seconding meditrina - what about Briony?

Udderly · 15/03/2011 23:38

Briga?

meditrina · 15/03/2011 23:32

The only others I can think of are Brid, Bride and Breagh, maybe Briony/Bryony?

No middle name.
Think Brigitte and Birgitta are too "European" and don't fit with Hannah or the surname.
Also, the surname ends in an "ie" sound so Bridie doesn't sound great with it.

But keep the thoughts coming!!

I really like Bridie! Did she have a middle name you could use?

meditrina · 15/03/2011 22:40

I love the nn Bridie - very Chalet School! It was short for Bridget in that - do you like Brigitte or Birgitta any better?
