I've only ever known one and he's 40ish so it's not a recently popular name. It's not a sleb baby name is it?

so long as it's not a name from hollyoaks or neighbours (and I wouldn't know) then I think it's fine. I like it.

As a 'Far from the Madding Crowd' reference it's ok but, sorry, really chavvy. Gabriel would be a much better reference as he was the hero and Sgt Troy the villain.

I love the name Troy Smile
The only association I have is with HSM, and I am by no means a Zac Efron fan, but that hasn't affected my opinion either way.
I've never heard of a Troy in real life, apart from one little boy on a documentary, but he was part of a perfectly respectable, if large, family. It didn't really suit him =/

I think it has chav potential, but at the moment it's fine.

I don't like "chavvy" - but I must say it was the name of the youngest son of the roughest family on our estate. You could always hear the mum - nicknamed "hatchet face," charmingly, - bellowing "Troyyyyyyyy" plus various obscenities, at all hours of the day. So it would be a no-no for me. It's hard to seperate the name from such a strong memory!

What about Travis?

I think it sounds American
I know three Troys and they're all from the US. Obviously I know the name itself isn't American but if I came across a Troy my first instinct would be are they from the US

I have only known 3 babies born so far this year - 1 was a girl and both the other 2 have been called Troy (Southwest London, should that be relevant). But, am not sure I like it. Sorry.
