Natasha?

Just pondering on girls names in case one of these twins I'm having turns out to be female.

It would probably get shortened to Tasha. What do you think?

Natasha is a NN for Russian name Natalia. Calling a child Natasha on its own is too casual. Natalia is a classic name, though. Not a fan of Tasha, sounds like parents were confused about the child's nationality... Sorry

Jojay - this could out me in RL but at least I'm not revealing any dark secrets!! They are called Iwan (welsh spelling of Ewan) and Lukas.

My DSD is Nathalia which is shortened to Thalia, which I really love on her even though I would never have thought to have picked it.

I don't dislike it but to my ears it's a bit 80s. Nothing particularly wrong with that though, it's better than having a 'faddy' name that places you firmly in the era you were born.

I am very jealous as it was my girl's name both times - I have two boys. Love my boys to bits and wouldn't swap them for the world but sometimes feel a bit sad that I never got to use Natasha. (Am planning to get a female dog called Tash to compensate...)

and meant to say last night - we spelt it differently since thats how they spell it where my dh comes from and where we live - i wouldnt recommend spelling it this way in the UK - it just causes confusion!!

And Canella, I agree, I like names that are fairly unusual - though I realise Edward doesn't fit into this category - but people will have heard of it before - nothing too off the wall that the poor child will have to repeat over and over again it's whole life!

phooey Not sure yet. We've got a Jasper and an Edward (Ed) already. Dh and I agreed on Jasper early on, but we agonised over Ed's name for ages, so it feels like we've done boys names to death!

Maybe Dominic or Douglas (Dougie) but DH not that keen.

I've got a Natascha so glad it gets the MN approval!! I liked it since it wasnt such a common name but not old fashioned!! Never regretted it!I dont shorten it but she sometimes gets called Tascha at school.

I thought it needs a one syllable middle name, maybe
