weimy · 14/03/2011 21:19

Roman and Octavia lovely, suspect you would need an italian connection tho. :)

alexaj · 14/03/2011 19:41

Clementine - a joke surely.
Octavia - see above.
Ivy - OK.
Athena - ridiculous.
Pearl - OK.
Blossom - stupid.
Tabitha - a cat.
Skye - a dog.
India - too middle class.
Savannah - too American.

Chester - a monkey.
Balthazar - stupid.
Roman - stupider.
Thaddeus - worst name yet.
Seth - OK.
Saxon - awful.
Jasper - a cat.

There's no names here I can give two thumbs up to. Really really bad selection. Especially the boys.

NutellaAddict · 14/03/2011 13:31

Honestly I think people are reading into these choices too much, if your son is called Saxon it doesn't necessarily mean he will be a tattoo'ed heavy metal listener (not that there is anything wrong with that anyway!) Wink Wink Smile

Any of them would be a lovely name, I don't find any, apart from Balthazar and Thaddeus which just seem "different for different's sake" to me, and Savannah which I find too American, all of them are lovely

India Pearl or India Skye
Athena Skye
Ivy Clementine

are my fave girls ones

Seth Roman would be my fave boy combo

Vicky2011 · 13/03/2011 23:08

I think there is a slight danger of trying too hard with these but a lot depends on your surname. If it's a really straightforward name, maybe do the "facebook test" checking you don't get 1000s of hits [confessionsmiley] but if you've got an unusual surname I would probably go for something more like an Emily or a James so that they won't need to spell two names. Others have mentioned the CV test (which I agree with) but I think the introducing-yourself-on-the-phone test is a good one too.

If either of our DDs were DSs then DP wanted Thaddeus. Don't really like your girls' names though

meditrina · 13/03/2011 13:20

I love Athena and Tabitha, also Octavia (but only if you have an "8" reason for using). Skye, India and Savannah are OK. I don't like Pearl or Blossom as they make me think of old lady's bath salts, nor Ivy which to me is dull.

I love Jasper, and like Roman if you're Slav or Thaddeus if you're erudite. Not so keen on Saxon or Balthazar, and don't like Seth.
