We're having a little girl, and have picked alot of names that me and my partner like but no one else seems to agree!
The last name's 'Perry'
and I think the middle name is going to be Rose.
These are the names that I like.. opinions and suggestions are very welcome! The honest the better lol.

  • Grace
  • Dylan
  • Evie
  • Effie
  • Bailie
  • Deenah
  • Analise
  • Faith
  • Micah
  • Bo/Beau
  • Frankii
  • Amelia
  • Theresah
  • Lola
  • Willow

I must stress that I want something that no one else will have, but not so strange that she will get bullied. :)
My mother in law is insistant on Erin, which I did pick in my first trimester but now I'm not so keen.
My partner and I both love Dylan :)

Any help would be appreciated.

Grace or another name ending in e. Maybe Alice or something similar?

cowboylover · 11/03/2011 22:17

Anneliese (without the Anal spelling) is my fav from them and you have had lots of opinions on what is popular ect.

Go for what you and your partner like and sod the rest! They will get used to it Smile
My MIL thinks our future DD should be either Clare or Amy so she will be having a suprise in 8 weeks!

  • Grace - pretty but popular
  • Dylan - a masculine name - not good for a girl
  • Evie - pretty but popular
  • Effie - love love love it! Very underused. Not common at all and my Grandma's name Smile
  • Bailie - naff
  • Deenah - very naff
  • Analise - bit fake sounding
  • Faith - pretty and not common
  • Micah - Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkik - books of Bible
  • Bo/Beau - Bo - ok. Beau for a boy
  • Frankii - naffly spelt!
  • Amelia - pretty but popular
  • Theresah - a nun's name?
  • Lola - pretty
  • Willow - pretty
Greenwing · 11/03/2011 18:50

Micah - Are you thinking of Mica Paris the soul singer? With an 'h' it is definitely a very Jewish boy's name (an Old Testament prophet.

Elizabeth with NN Effie sounds lovely.

agora1 · 11/03/2011 17:27

Do you have a particular fondness for Welsh names - Dylan and Teagan were included. If you live in England it might give you something a bit more unusual. Off the top of my head how about:
Bryn
Bronwen
Catrin
Cerys
Carys

cece · 10/03/2011 23:21

Oh and do not involve family with name choices would be my advice.

Discuss and decide with your DH and then announce to world upon her arrival. No one can coment when it is a done deal (or at least they would be very rude to do so).

cece · 10/03/2011 23:17
  • Grace - with your last name makes me think of Grayson Perry, so that would be a no
  • Dylan - prefer it for a boy
  • Evie - lovely but popular
  • Effie - like
  • Bailie - awful and even worse when spelt wrong
  • Deenah - no
  • Analise - isn't it spelt Annalise?
  • Faith - lovely
  • Micah - ?no?
  • Bo/Beau - boys name
  • Frankii - no
  • Amelia - very popular
  • Theresah - prefer Tess
  • Lola - no
  • Willow - no
Onion1968 · 10/03/2011 23:07
  • Grace nice name not sure about going with Perry (said aloud = Grey Sperry
  • Dylan ia a boys name, don't do it
  • Evie avoid ee sounding ending
  • Effie ridiculous with Perry
  • Bailie another ee sound ending so no
  • Deenah hate the spelling, looks like a chav name
  • Analise nice name
  • Faith is Ok
  • Micah not liking it but nit sure why
  • Bo/Beau NO! Bo Perry?? ridiculous
  • Frankii HATE the chavvy spelling and again has the ee sound ending
  • Amelia is nice
  • Theresah is not bad but spell it right
  • Lola doesn't sound right with Perry
  • Willow is a nice name but again sounds odd with Perry

Erin is a lovely name but Erin Perry doesn't sound right with the two er's.

I understand you want to change the spellings to make the names a bit different but you will have to spend her childhood correcting people when they spell them the correct way then your poor child will spend the rest of her life having to do the same.

weimy · 10/03/2011 22:51

I think knowing the kids I teach a child called Bo would get teased (body odour).

I'm going to call my next dog willow it's lovely!

BarbieLovesKen · 09/03/2011 10:38

Oooh Effie short for Elizabeth is lovely..

MamaLazarou · 09/03/2011 09:49
  • Grace - very popular - overused, IMO
  • Dylan - a boys' name
  • Evie - Meh... see Grace
  • Effie - I like this a lot, but I think it sounds silly with your surname
  • Bailie - awful
  • Deenah - Dena is OK(ish), but this spelling is silly
  • Analise - looks too much like 'analyse'. How about Annalise?
  • Faith - good, solid name
  • Micah - a boys' name
  • Bo/Beau - boys' name
  • Frankii - awful, awful, AWFUL. Two i's together just looks ridiculous
  • Amelia - very popular at the mo
  • Theresah - Theresa is nice, but the extra 'h' looks daft
  • Lola - a stripper's name
  • Willow - I like it
EmmaBGoode · 09/03/2011 09:36
  • Grace (too popular)
  • Dylan (boys' name)
  • Evie (too popular)
  • Effie (sounds like 'effin'')
  • Bailie (chavvy)
  • Deenah (horrible)
  • Analise ('Annaliese' is better)
  • Faith (boring)
  • Micah (awful)
  • Bo/Beau (boys' name)
  • Frankii (chavvy and dated)
  • Amelia (lovely)
  • Theresah (chavvy spelling)
  • Lola (lovely)
  • Willow (lovely).

So, my choices would be Amelia, Lola or Willow. I am afraid I don't like any of the others. Maybe Annaliese, if spelt correctly.

MrsPlugThePlumber · 08/03/2011 19:59

Micah is a man's name. Please don't call a girl "Micah"! It's a prophet in the Old Testament.

Beau is the boy-version of beautiful. Belle is the girl equivalent.

Theresa I think is lovely, Annalise but only spelled properly.

I agree with whoever said ....ie Perry is a bit too many 'ee's.

fifi25 · 08/03/2011 19:53

No im just reading nameing sites tbh Confused

meditrina · 08/03/2011 19:03

Chinese naming traditions are quite different from European ones.

A Mandarin (pinyin) transliteration of "Bo" is always "boar"

Are you using a different form of transliteration? Or working from a different dialect? (Suspect you might be if the character is "jade" under a canopy?)

fifi25 · 08/03/2011 18:38

med - i thought it meant precious and is pronounced Boh..no

morethanyoubargainfor · 08/03/2011 18:37
  • Grace-not for me sorry
  • Dylan-No, just can't move away from it being a boys name.
  • Evie-don't like it with Rose.
  • Effie-too many 'ee' sounds
  • Bailie-it is my dogs name, no matter how you spell it.
  • Deenah-Love it, favourite from your list.
  • Analise-don't like it, sorry
  • Faith-like this one
  • Micah-DSon't like it.
  • Bo/Beau-boys name
  • Frankii- again too many 'ee'
  • Amelia-love this one as well, second favourite for me.
  • Theresah-don't like it, but do like thea.
  • Lola-this is up there with Amelia.
  • Willow-love thjis name, but maybe not with Rose.
meditrina · 08/03/2011 18:29

Fifi25: In Mandarin Chinese "bo" is pronounced "boar", making it a rather difficult name to live with in English speaking countries. Bo is also a Scandinavian boys' name.

Mummytobe91: Effie as nn for Elizabeth wouldn't have occurred to me, but I think it works.

IWillNotNeverEatATomato · 08/03/2011 18:21

How about Frances with Frankie as a nn
I think Frances Perry sounds lovely

bogie · 08/03/2011 18:07

I have a Willow and I love it

fifi25 · 08/03/2011 18:05

Just noticed you had Erin picked. I had this on list for 1st daughter. So i think it would be Erin off your list and Estelle off mine [Grin}

MummyToBe91 · 08/03/2011 17:59

I like Estelle, and fair enough on the analise (anal) comment.. I didn't quite click on to that one :) lol.
Although Anneliese would be difficult for her to spell growing up.

Effie would be short for Elizabeth.
And imo Deenah isn't spelt wrong because I used to work with a girl called Deenah and she spelt her name this way, which is where I got the spelling from. Tbf spelling it Dinah looks like 'diner'.

And my sisters middle name is Theresah, with a 'h' at the end.
And I'm from England, but I am incredibly in love with Dylan.
Although I do have to think about the LO, and kids can be cruel can't they.

I liked Teagan but saying it aloud sounds unusual
Hmm

fifi25 · 08/03/2011 13:42

I only like Bo (was on shortlist for one of mine), Bo is a girls name and is chinese. Beau is a boys name and is French. Lolas my dogs name so i wouldnt use that. Im not keen on the rest sorry Smile

My list would be

Romille
Estelle
Bo
Romy
Jeanie
Romilly
Ethne
Smile

Hedwig3 · 08/03/2011 13:25

showofhands you crack me up Grin

Elizadoesdolittle · 08/03/2011 13:16

IMO Dylan, Bailey (or however you spell it) and Micah are boys names.
I also agree with showofhands about the spellings. Just because you choose to spell the names like that, it doesn't mean it's correct. Your DD will be the one to suffer when her name gets spelt incorrectly all the time, purely because everyone else will be spelling it the right way!
Out of your list I like Evie, Grace, Amelia and Lola but they are popular so perhaps you are better off avoiding them.
Faith is the best non popular name on your list. And it's spelt correctly Smile
