We are terrible at baby names. Last time all we ever managed to come up with was Nina, so it was pretty lucky that she was a girl. I think at one point we considered Sophie. We sort of like Robin for a boy but think it might be a bit wet as he grows.

What we liked about Nina was that it travels well, can be cute on a girl & strong on a woman, is known but not common & isn't frilly or diminutive.

Middle names are okay because we will name for family. We can cope with that.

Any ideas?!

hopeless at boys names but what about Seb(astion), I think it 'goes with' NIna?

I think Nina is a beautiful, classic, pretty strong girl's name. But still feminine.

I get that you might not like Robin. I think you need something equally strong. Like (particularly if you go down the Scottish route) Robert, Hamish, Douglas or Clara, Tess, Beatrice.

I think I'm waffling.

Good luck!!

Nina and Merryn?

iskra · 07/03/2011 11:40

Merle! I used to love that name, had forgotten about it. I will try it on DP.

Stella makes me think of the beer (stella I'll twat ya as we fondly know it).

There's something about Robyn for a girl that doesn't sit right with me, not sure why. Like it on other children though!

DP has suggested we go Scottish for boys name (his family is originally Scottish)...
