Hi

just for fun, did your baby make the list in 2009 or 2010? if so where did they come?

My ds hasn't made the list at all in the last 2 years but then it is quite an old name.

It only shows one with my first name + surname, which I could believe. There are no results other than me on google. Although I don't exist with my married surname (but that gets no hits on its own anyway).

Apparently no one in the UK has DS's first name. Also possible, it's not on any of the ONS lists available, and no one I've met has ever met or heard of one. DS is 5 months, so not on the electoral roll.

I guess that's what comes of marrying a forriner. (And dodgy websites).

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 08/03/2011 21:14

well exH is on the electoral roll..........but he's not on there with either spelling of his first name.

And I'm 99.99% certain there's at least one cousin and an uncle of exH that's now resident in the UK (and have been for soem time)...

MirandaWest · 08/03/2011 21:06

I have wondered if it is electoral roll based which would exclude under 18s.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 08/03/2011 21:04

actually I don't trust it at all...........as unless it doesn't include under 18's then it's totally lying........there are at least 5 of us in the UK with my surname (exH, me, 3 DS's.....) yet when I do a search for surname only it says 2 (but one of them isn't exH..........)

MirandaWest · 08/03/2011 20:59

I don't trust that link as there is a name in my family used more than once and it says there is only one of them in total. And sure there are others too.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 08/03/2011 20:56

haha little billie - that yournotme is so good that apparently my exH simply doesn't exist! There are none of him in the UK Grin (says there's only one of me...........but there's only one of me in the world afaik! A search for my surname on google only brings up 479 results (!)

littlebillie · 08/03/2011 20:52

Has anyone tried

www.yournotme.com/Default.aspx

it tells you how many people have your first, second or both names in the uk. Helpful when picking a name.

Reallyusefulengine · 08/03/2011 18:48

Thanks for that x

bluebump · 08/03/2011 18:25

My DS born in 2008 was one of 1295 boys called his name - number 58 in the table. In 2009 it went up to place 55 and 1323 were called the name. I know it's getting more and more popular but I can't say that bothers me at all.

IWillNotNeverEatATomato · 08/03/2011 18:12

DS 2 was born in 2009
and is no. 1218
with just 20 others with the same name for that year.

and DS 1 has gone down in popularity from no. 300 in 2007
to no. 366 in 2009

and I didn't really think either of them would have been that unusual

KenDoddsDadsDog · 08/03/2011 18:01

There is a link earlier in the thread that shows all names for 2009.

Reallyusefulengine · 08/03/2011 18:00

Hi there

Just wondering where you can find out the list of most popular names? I didn't know you could find out past the top 100. Thanks so much x

Mine are also the correct, traditional spellings.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 07/03/2011 09:38

nope mine are just the correct spellings Grin

mayanna123 · 07/03/2011 09:35

And don't forget that some 'misspellings' are actually correct foreign spellings of a name.

mayanna123 · 07/03/2011 09:34

No, both my childrens' names are correct spellings of their names - both very old names that are easy to spell and pronounce. They're just not 'trendy' at the moment Smile.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 06/03/2011 22:26

Nope - my DS's names are definitely spelled correctly. I had a look at the other years - DS2 doesn't appear to be on any of the other years lists they have either Shock!

KingofHighVis · 06/03/2011 22:10

Did you accidentally misspell their names? Most of the names towards the bottom seem to be misspelt.

ItsJustAName · 06/03/2011 21:29

My son was on the list in the first five decades of last century, and my daughter was on the list for the last five decades lol!

JeanLouiseFinch · 06/03/2011 20:57

Only 48 others with dd's name that year.

jellybeans · 06/03/2011 15:20

None of my 5 are above top 30, 4 being outside the top 100.
