Is Anna boring ?

We registered our DD yesterday as Anna Vittoria Vera with the idea of calling her just Anna - I quite like it as it works in all languages, but DH is worried that it is a bit of a boring name. We also have a problem in calling her Anna - it seems such an adult name for a baby. ??????????

slightly different but as a child i knew an Annarella, with the nickname wella. she might be an anna now shes an adult.

thanks ! i think it is nearly a consensus.... and we are liking it more and more, Vittoria and Vera are both family names we feel very attached to it. I wouldn't have minded vera as a first name as well but apparently it hasn't got a nice connotation in england

personally as it's my name I think it's great - my parents picked it as same in english/french/german/italian so all of my family could pronounce it - also I've always liked the fact that it's spelt the same forwards and backwards.

oh and I've never liked Annie or Anne being honest, Anna is beautiful enough :D

Absolutely classic, timeless and will suit an adult as well as a baby. She could be anything with the name Anna and as you say it travels well. Don't worry about it sounding too grown up - nicknames just appear out of nowhere as your baby grows up.

And don't worry about it being too grown up, she won't be a baby forever and can you imagine a little 3-yr old Anna? Gorgeous!

Plus, you could always give her a nickname completely unconnected to her name? My DD regularly gets called 'Boo' or 'Bear' - nothing like her name!

Lovely middle name choices too, are they family-related?

I love Anna (it is my Gran's name) and plan to call #2 Anna Georgina if it is a girl (currently GA 7 weeks Grin)

I certainly hope it isn't the next Isabella!

Although we will probably call her Georgie, as I love boyish girl's names and that was what Dh's gran was called.

Congratulations! And you have chosen a gorgeous name! I am completely biased because our dd1 is Anna, but we love it, classic, timeless, recognisable the world over and beautiful IMO!! We have had nothing but compliments. Be confident with your choice and in my experience it'll not be long until she grows into an Anna - I had exactly the same thoughts when we registered our wee one, she seemed such a tiny tot!!

It's beautiful - classic, elegant and not too popular. Please don't have doubts, you've made a great choice.

Annie works well as nn if you want something for when she's little.

Btw, unless you call your baby Snuggly-bubsy-twinkly-boo (which I'm sure someone on MN has) all names seem a bit mature to start with. They grown into them.

It's a nice classic name. You can always use Annie as a nickname.

I was in school with a girl called anna,she was very clever,last time I caught sight of her,I was traveling to my holiday; she was in a supermarket talking to someone in another exotic sounding language;I think she's probably off doing some fabulous globetrotting job.She always seemed a really fair dignified person.So if thats anything to go by,always thought the name suited her.I can't imagine her having a boring life.Because of her the name anna seems interesting.
